I agree, he has to go.  But we heve to ensure for the sake of the club that we dont panic now and if we heve to wait until the end of the season to get the RIGHT man then so be it.

With peoples reaction to his criticism and the petition I doubt if he will be here by monday.
He obviously wasnt briefed properly before he started and has been putting his foot in it ever since

Hodgson needed to get off to a flyer to have any chance of being accepted at Anfield but 6 months in and we are in absolute tatters on the park. If the fans had got right behind from the off his argument would be it would have made his efforts a whole lot easier, but hes a man alone out there no question about it and under those circumstances its almost impossible to perform to your best. Successful clubs are solid right the way through but ours has had fractions and splits for a number of years now and the rift between the fans and Hodgson is now the latest chapter following the G & H battle. You should always fight for what you think is right as a fan and I am completely with that, but trying to step back from it all a little you can see all this constant drama is born out of frustration that our club is crest fallen and we just want it back. The way its going we will be picking fights with everyone as there is simply not a shred of patience left amongst any of us now. Unfortunately this kind of distress may well have a negative effect and hamper efforts to move us forward. Its going to take a very strong manager and rock solid ownership to handle this from now on or else we as fans could well start to bring it all down on our own whilst thinking we are acting in the clubs best interests.

Premier League - Papers: Hodgson 'faces sack'
Fri, 31 Dec 07:53:00 2010

ShareretweetEmailPrintRoy Hodgson's tenure at Liverpool could soon be over as the club's American owners are unhappy that he had a go at supporters this week, according to the papers.

Hodgson seems on borrowed time at Anfield with the Reds a lowly 12th in the table and only three points above the relegation zone.

The matter has come to a head, however, after he criticised the fans following the home defeat to Wolves on Wednesday.

"John W Henry feels Hodgson dropped a major clanger by having a go at supporters,"

Several papers report that Henry's New England Sports Ventures group fears the boss is struggling to motivate his squad.

Was there not a press conference scheduled today ? Just saw a transcript of an interview with him on Sly Sports....the man is so out of touch it's not funny...

Yes he give that interview at 9am this morning as someone pointed out earlier in this thread He(Woy) was probably told to apologise to the fans by the owners.

It's only a matter of time now before he goes, I wouldn't be surprised if there putting a compensation package together for him

What happens if we beat Bolton comfortably though? Will it spare Hodgson the sack?

come on mate there's already a thread for silly talk, it's called 'Rafa Benitez appreciation thread'  :D
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I think Bolton will hammer home the final nail tomorrow.
They are a much better side than the one who played us off the park on Wednesday
I will be there as usual shouting us on, BUT I just don't see us getting our act together and turning them over to be honest
If I was a neutral I would be more than tempted by the 4/1 on offer for them
I checked out the relegation prices on offer; Bolton are 66/1 to go down
We are 40/1
Says it all for me  :(

Please walk away Roy for everyones sake.

in a way i feel sorry for roy. he was hired by g&h so nesv would certainly want thier own man. he was dead man walking. i assume they know exactly who they want but cannot get him yet, so roy keeps his job. the players and roy know he is on death row.

why would roy take the job?
1) did a good job at fulham and could have been a star there
2) an intelligent man would have seen that g&h were on their way out and the new owners would want their own guy
3) why take a job no-one would touch with a barge pole?

why did nesv keep him on?
due to great manouvering i think they got us for ~ 60cents on the dollar. the could have waited till bankrupcy and got us for ~ 30 cents so why didn't they? only one reason relegation fears
they are businessmen but know sports. they took the red sox (who due to the curse of the bambino never won in around 80 yrs and won in 3 yrs) and made it into an icon. they saw that in pool. roy looked a sure bet to keep the team up and into a top 6 finish, so all could be fixed. they would have known alot about him, but the court case was more important than finding a new manager.

now the relegation issue rears its ugly head. being a baseball owner they know about bad streaks etc and that  rash move often makes things worse. a manager on the sidelines doesn't have a job and many for a reason. fr short stay in turkey, rafa in italy, mon at villa, jol in wb.....why? so these guys may not be the answer.
king kenny....an obvious choice with big downside. if he fails, the brand is very tarnished. he would be my emergency response so that he can rally the team enuff to save the day....i worry that he will have an impact that runs hot and fast and that his absence from the game makes a long term success very improbable, BUT if a 10 game span is needed he could be the man and he wouldn't take the blame.

i think it is too early for the king, so what do you do....lets assume that nesv has consulted the core players and knows exactly what is going on. a new manager would probably not be able to change the staff so what impact can he bring..it will take time to know the players and gain their trust. friends we have a real problem here. a change could make it much worse. coaches who know they are gone so don't care, players who need to buy in.....the season could be lost....

so what choice do they have? roy must go so what do you do?

5 options as i see it

1) keep roy and hope he turns it around. null option
2) splash big and hire your man now. you know who that is
3) hire a gunslinger short term...problem is it really may fail and you will really pay big...could crash and what if he does really well....he ain't your guy
4) hire rafa short term...if and only if he still has respect of the players....he will have something to prove, but same problems as above and he would have extreme power if he succeeded
5) king kenny...hope he still has the flame burning bright at the end of the season...i worry that he will be good for 5 and a max of 10 games then the flame will burn out. he has been out of it for a long time. his is just too valuable to the team to be allowed to fail. i think he would do ok and would immediately win the fans but what about the players? tactics can't be worse

so nesv has a real problem which i assume they are addressing. i guess that they didn't ever envision roy being such a dud and just hoped he lasted the season. what will they choose?
