Liverpool's official response and Atletico's resort to the decission might delay the punnishment.

UEFA has to rectify because the Liverpool fans haven't to pay others' errors. At least the punnishment should be delayed.

Have you got a link for that Sabre?

Some football clubs have Knobheads that claim to be supporters their not!! they are just Wankers with no real love
for the game, they are bored mindless idiots who give decent supporters a bad name and a great deal of shame.

Obviously it's not all Athletico supporters but by taking a stand against the fans as a whole they are hoping the decent hard working fans
with a true love the game and their side will stand up to the mindless pigs who drag the name of many of the world's clubs down.

how about us, non-racist Atletico supporters??

I didn't mean to imply that all Atleti fans are racists by any means, but until the clubs and the authorities in each country work together to eradicate the "ULTRA" groups that a lot of teams throughout Europe have following them, then UEFA must crack down on the clubs.
I know it's easier said than done when these groups are often very violent but if more clubs took the approach that Barcelona and Joan Laporte have taken by upto the "ULTRA'S" then these groups will eventually die out in football.

How does this punish them if they still get to see the game even if it means they have to travel from one part of Spain to another ?. I know it has been mentioned that they don't have the law for it but they should have created one and just locked them out of their own ground. It amazes me that racist chants are still part of Football, ( I still remember the days when Bananas were thrown on to the pitch at Digger, and yet here we are still talking about the best ways to deal with it ) but it amazes me even more that clubs that have black players still use racist chants to opposing players ???

This is another example of UEFA being complete tits. Like a few others have already said, why not just lock out the AM fans? Changing venue a week prior to the game is an absolute joke.

UEFA sorry for Reds disruption
Oct 14 2008

UEFA have admitted Liverpool fans face major disruption next week after their Champions League match against Atletico Madrid was switched to a neutral venue.

Atletico have been fined 150,000 euros (£120,000) for racist abuse of Marseille players and handed a three-match stadium ban after crowd trouble and lack of organisation at the same match.

UEFA communications director William Gaillard said: "We are in touch with Liverpool because we are concerned about the fans. We know they face hardship and disruption and we sympathise with that, but we needed to punish Atletico Madrid. We have no alternative."

Liverpool have expressed strong concerns over the timing of the decision but UEFA defended the move saying there was "no alternative" and have pledged to minimise problems for the 3,000 fans who have already booked a trip.

The match cannot take place within 300 kilometres of Madrid under UEFA's ruling, but there are further problems in that Atletico are set to appeal against the punishment, and a final decision will not be known until the weekend.

"What would people have said if Liverpool went there and the players and fans suffered the same treatment?" Gaillard added.

"We know how sensitive the British public are about racism and violence - and rightly so.

"This is to protect Liverpool fans too - the police were harsh and violent against peaceful fans during the Marseille game and do we want the same story as that, or as happened to the Tottenham fans in Seville last year?"

Gaillard said they were already talking to the club about moving charter flights and UEFA would help in any way they could.

"We are looking at the logistics and seeing what help we can provide," he added.

Absolutly spot on Destro.

were the ones being punished again. Its a joke an a half there still gonna be the same just in a different stadium. I was suppossed to arrive in Madrid about half 4 how am i gonna get to the new venue im devastated mate.

An as Igor Said for me also its a recipe for disaster your gonna have both sets of fans travelling from Madrid to this new venue. its gonna be caos. If they wanted to ban them they should of just let us in the ground or played both legs at Anfield

I refer you to their previous fuc'kups!! :D
The problem is these decisions are made by men who are out of touch with reality and football supporters in general!
Its easy for A Madrid fans, all they have to do is take a day off and leave a few hours earlier!
Its the LFC fans who have booked flights to and hotels in Madrid that will suffer more.
A lot just wont bother going as it will be impossible to change flights plus they will loose their deposit on the hotel and in some cases the whole fee.
So its LFC that will suffer as a lot of our fans wont make it! :no

The vast majority of our travelling fans are working class people who have saved hard to get there. Most cant afford any extra cost and should'nt have to!
I still cant see this happening at such short notice....common sense surely will come from somewhere??

'Kin hell, can't see it working out if its played at a neutral venue, as someone said, you will then have 2 sets of fans travelling - it'll be chaos.

Perhaps they should use that £120,000 to reimburse the Liverpool fans that are losing out? HA! Fat chance, that'll go straight to Platini's head table where it'll be used to light cigars for all the fat UEFA cats!!!  :no
