Just to add to that here are the details of the Webster case, it sheds a few more details that may help clarify the Heinze situation, notably:

1) The player must give notice to the club within 15 days of the end of the season.

Heinze has not.

2) The club must be from another Football Association.

We are not.

3) Players under 28 can use the ruling, if they are 3 years into a 4 year contract.

Heinze is 29, so this rule wouldn't apply.

Look lads, lets stop contemplating Heinze's arrival because it's all but over. 1) United wouldn't let him join. 2) Even if he did, he'd get death threats from the United fans which wouldn't exactly settle him down. 3) I don't think at 29 we would of seen the best of him anyway. I'd rather see us spend the 6 million on someone who has a long future with Liverpool rather than somebody who will be gone or a bit part player in 2-3 years.

im all for this transfer...

heinze is a class act,  but i think the ball is in heinze's  court...

he must now tell fergie he wants to join liverpool...

2-3 years is a long time in football,  the guy is quality...

tbh  it would be more straight forward for heinze to move abroad,  which i expect... 

to much red tape for him to move to liverpool...

we need quality at left back now,  heinze will offer that...

I'm not gutted Heinze isn't joining..

Heinze is in decline, anyone who has seen him before his injury (caused by Kromkamp when UTD were playing Villarreal) and after will tell you that he's not the player he once was. He would make decent cover at both left back and centre half, but that's about it. I would never say he's someone who definitely needs to be in the first team if fit.

Heinze's reps could use courts to force move

Gabriel Heinze's representatives could take to the courts to force through the defender's move from Manchester United to Liverpool, according to a report.

The Liverpool Echo claims the Argentina international's legal team are bullish over their chances of forcing the transfer at a hearing if United remain steadfast in their refusal to let the player join their most bitter rivals.

In recent days it has emerged that the player has a letter signed by United chief executive David Gill claiming he would be free to leave if a £6million bid was received -- a figure Rafael Benitez's Reds are thought to have matched.

It is not clear if the 29-year-old has a formal get-out clause in his contract.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson appeared to rule out a move to Anfield yesterday when he told PA Sport: 'I can assure you, Liverpool will not be getting Gabriel Heinze.

'We can put that to bed right now and we have done so. We have had a couple offers for him and we have turned them down.'

There is another thread on this subject that was started almost two months earlier than this one. The day this thread was started the original thread was on the first page so is there a reason for two threads on the same subject?

Should the events change (ie liverpool buy him) should we then open another thread to say "Heinze signs". Once he completes his move to Liverpool and has played a bit should we then open another thread asking "Heinze, I know it's early but....".  When Heinze then gives the ball away on a backheal should we then open another thread "Heinze, trickster or ball waster"

Ah well I'm not disappointed to see us not getting Heinze. Since Rafa's arrival there's been 3 players I never wanted Rafa to sign. Morientes was 1, Kuyt was 1 and Heinze is the other. I was proven right with Morientes, Kuyt hasn't set the world alight and I think Heinze would be just like Morientes.

How could he be like Morientes.  Heinze is a left back, Morientes is a striker.

Also Heinze has played in the Prem and Nando had never played in England before, also like Sean says they play completely different positions

Am really annoyed about Fergie saying about how he wont sell Heinze to us. But i do think something is happening between us and The player. My reasons for this are Rafa is a great man when it comes to transfers he never lets any thing out and hardly ever comments about not signing a player or what not. But he hascommented on the Heinze saga saying he is a good player and he would like him in the squad. Im not saying that he will defintely come but dont be surprised if Rafa pulls something outa the bag

If he does come, and once he settles is he without a doubt penciled in as our starting LB? Will Riise move to concentrate full time at Left Midfield and use Aurelio as cover?  I think him coming would really help the development of Insua as a fellow Argentine who has adopted pretty well to the English game, only Insua would be getting a big head start by moving to England so young

What I meant by him being like Morientes is a world renound player with a huge reputation for around a similar price and ending up to be a total flop.
