3 things Nando:

1 - I doubt very much that Rafa will go for Aimar as Garcia has been bought for that 'special role'. And anyway is it really worth having both of them.

2 - Getting Baraja to Liverpool in the first place will be a near impossible task, and then asking him to sit on the bench?

3 - Buying Owen and Upson and not even putting them on the bench?

owen is a player on the list i would like to see back but he has moved on as we will have to as well, after watching real madrid VS Barca and seeing the reception he got when he left the pitch 1 could only imagine why he would wanna leave all that, if owen came back he would realise he wouldnt be our main striker and he wouldnt be our owen of old which is why i wouldnt mind too much if we missed out on him,

I am really shocked at some of the nonsense that people are writing. Complete school boy fantasy stuff. Come on guys. What is the point of putting down players who we will not get? I thought we would be listing players who have indicated that they want to leave their current squads and wish to play or remain in the Premiership, not list players who have not made any comments of that kind and we just list any class player on here that we would like but have no chance of getting. Defoe would not go anywhere for 6million (Tottenham are not that stupid), Thruham is not going to leave Juventus for anyone (They are top of the Italian league right now), Mexes has not indicated he would wish to leave Roma and despite their debts, they are currently attempting to tie all their top level players to longer deals (including Mexes), there is no way Middlesborough are going to let Downing go and why should we want him?? He has had some good games in the Premiership, but he flopped at International level and he has not yet proven himself. Two more seasons, maybe, but not right now. Christian Vieri??? That is a joke. Yes, he does have issues with Inter, but do you really think Morientes and Cisse were brought in to sit on the bench? They are both first choice strikers, if you don't play them, they will want to leave and as they both haven't had much playing time under Benitez, it is unlikely he will bring in someone like Vieri who would demand a first team spot. Boumsong? He just joined Newcastle and Souness is happy with him so that is a big no. Toldo, no again. Yes, he is having issues at not being first choice but have you seen him play? Marek Mintal - Currenty at FC Nurnberg - Top scorer in Bundesliga with 22 league goals even though he is in a standard midfield position and playing for a team which are just outside a religation place. Liverpool have already bid 4million euros for him.

Kuffour - Currently at Bayern Munich. Highly rated center back. His contract runs out this summer so he is avaliable on a Bosman free. He has said he would like to play in the premiership. Although it is said he favours Arsenal, Liverpool are also said to be in the running.

Joao Moutinho - Currently at Sporting Lisbon, this 18 year old was the shock star that helped knock Newcastle and Middlesborough out of the UEFA cup. He is a very highly rated defensive midfielder (a suitable replacement for Hamman who may leave). Liverpool have already made contact with Sporting and are in the lead to sign him.

Reina - Currently at Villareal. Goalkeeper whose amazing displays are one of the main reasons Villareal are in a Champions League position in the Spanish La Liga. Unfortunately, Man U are looking at him too, but you would hope Benitez's connections in Spain could put us in the front running.

Juanito - Currently at Malaga. Contract runs out in the summer so avaliable on a Bosman free. Both Liverpool and Deportivo have sent scouts serveral times to watch the Defender.

Fernando Torres - Currently at Athletico Madrid - Madrid have big financial problems and they are said to be willing to sell their star player. His price would exceed £12million. Benitez has been a long admirer of Torres and Torres is happy to play in an attacking role behind the front two strikers which would be Morientes and Cisse.

Emre - Currently at Inter Milan - Emre has kept Davids on the bench with his performances. Emre has stated he is leaving Inter this summer no matter what and as he will have 12 months left on his contract this summer, Inter are unlikely to say no and loose him for nothing in 12months time. With this little time on his contract, the transfer fee will be resonable. He has said he admires the premiership and he would only go to a top team. With Liverpool being in the semi-finals of the Champions league, we are a definate possibility.

Personally I'd like any new signings to not come from abroad if possible. I think we need players who have been playing in the Premiership and can come in and play straight away without having to bed in, especially defenders.

I think any young English players like SWP or Downing will end up in bidding wars and cost us a fortune, Rafa will know he can get as good players abroad for cheaper and will shop abroad. Pretty sure SWP will go to Arsenal anyway.
I'd maybe still take Parker but I'm sure he'll be frustrated and want guarenteed first team football if he's moving.

To be honest I'm not really sure who we should go for and will leave that up to Rafa!
