MIDDLESBROUGH VS LIVERPOOL - Lets get back into the title race.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby heimdall » Thu Feb 26, 2009 6:43 pm

OK so we now turn back to the premiership, let's hope that we can buck the trend and win a prem game after a champions league game. It's away from home so that's an advantage for us. I have a good feeling about it, We have to win and I reckon we will win, let's discuss.

Recent Form:
Middlesborough D L L D L D

Liverpool          D D D W W D

Apparently Alonso is suspended for this game but we'll have Stevie back so we really should beat them, at least going on their recent form.

.LFC says:

Fernando Torres is a doubt for this weekend's clash in Middlesbrough after twisting his ankle in the 1-0 victory over Real Madrid.
The striker was substituted after 61 minutes of the Bernabeu triumph and now faces a race against time to be ready for Liverpool's trip to the north east on Saturday.

Rafa Benitez said: "Talking with the doctors, they said maybe we could keep Torres on. The ankle was bad but it maybe wasn't the worst injury. But he was limping and wasn't comfortable and we decided to bring Ryan Babel on.

"We don't know how bad it is yet. Probably he will miss some games. We have a game in three days' time and it will be difficult for him to be ready."

28 Feb, Middlesbrough
03 Mar, Sunderland
10 Mar, Real Madrid
14 Mar, Manchester United

Really wanted torres to be up and ready against boro and sunderland.. Glad gerrard is back though... Most likely if torres does miss a few games maybe he will be back against real in the 2nd leg or get a little run in at sunderland

I wonder what Boro's tactics will be at the weekend. We've got no Torres and Gerrard just back from injury. 5-4-1 or 4-5-1 from Boro I imagine who'll be happy with a point.

If I were Rafa I would go 3-5-2 -

Hyppia, Carra and Skrtel (as Agger is clearly out the picture at moment) in defence
Yossi, Xabi, Mascha, Gerrard and Riera in midfield
Kuyt and Babel up front

We HAVE to win it so just go for it Rafa.

:)

We are. That's why the thread is entitled "lets get back in the title race.

I agree with Supersub, I blame Rafa for the fact we're currently out of it too. Nows not the time for those discussions though, we've got wo win, win, and win again. Afeter that we can draw because we're playing Madrid
