Jailed fan has sentence reduced 

Michael Shields has consistently protested his innocence
Liverpool football fan Michael Shields, who was jailed in Bulgaria for 15 years for the attempted murder of a barman, has had his sentence cut to 10 years.
At the same time the Supreme Court in Sofia increased a fine imposed on him to its original level of £71,000.

Shields, 19, of Wavertree, Liverpool, had denied attacking Martin Georgiev in the resort of Varna in May 2005.

He was there after watching Liverpool FC's Champions League victory in Turkey.

The teenager failed in a first attempt to get his jail sentence reduced last November.

He has consistently protested his innocence and maintains he was in bed when a paving slab was dropped on Mr Georgiev's head.

why is it reduced? ? ?

if innocent (which we all know he is) - set him free

if guilty - 15 years

whats the thinking behind reducing the sentance.... 'we now think he's only partially guilty' ?? give me a break!!!!
