If we're going to win then we need at least one pacy player on the wings.  I just hope that Rafa is not going to be tempted to use both Kuyt and Riera on the wings for this match.

If we stop being so negative then we have a good chance even without gerrard and torres .Man u always come to Nick a point we need more width and lots of crosses and keane to play as a striker which he has,nt yet.

New Member here!  I personally think we have a really solid chance of winning this game without Torres and Gerrard.  Without them there I think we'll be forced to play people in their preferred positions. (Kuyt and Keane)  Who knows maybe the team will just click and put in a great perfomance.  It certainly is capable of it with the squad we can put out there just need people to find better form.

Watching the Argentine match, Mascherano looks to be injured. Hope it's nothing serious...

Yep.

He was holding the back of his leg for a little bit, but then he seemed to walk it off.

I would love to think that we could beat Man Ure without Gerrard & Torres. If Rafa's hand is forced to play Kuyt & Keane up front, it could be interesting to see if they hit it off. Hopefully Keane will score in Torres's absence....

.......BUT I won't be supreised if Rafa plays an Ultra-Negative 4-5-1 which would stifle the game imo.

However, if we beat them, I'll be happy whatever formation Rafa puts out.

FERNANDO TORRES is on course for a shock return against Manchester United on Saturday.

The Liverpool striker limped off against Aston Villa last weekend with a tight hamstring but the injury is not as serious as first feared.

The Spaniard has already returned to training and club doctors are optimistic he will have recovered in time to face the champions.
Reds skipper Steven Gerrard is less likely to feature as the midfielder, 28, had a groin operation last week.

He is back in light training but the club is torn between having him available and bringing him back too early and aggravating the long- term injury.

Sounds like Torres may well be in line to play against the mancs while Gerrard needs a few more days. I wouldn't risk either if it was infact a risk. No need to gamble on one game when we have a long season ahead of us. I am not sure if we have the confidence to beat the mancs without our best two players but if we did manage it , it would be a huge boost to our confidence for the rest of the season.

You don't win big games if you don't take your chances and I think we will need to show a bit more going forward than we have in these games since Rafa took over, if we are to win.

Bit of a catch 22 saint . We've need to take our chances when playing the mancs, but without torres and gerrard there's not many you can name that will , keane perhaps.

The team has to start creating chances first, before they can worry about taking them.
