Liverpool to play Lyon and AC Milan in Dubai Super Cup

Liverpool will play two friendly matches while in Dubai next month for their warm-weather training camp.

The members of Jürgen Klopp’s first-team squad who are not at the World Cup will spend 12 days in the United Arab Emirates, with their domestic schedule now paused until the League Cup tie at Manchester City on December 22.

Reds players involved in the World Cup will join the group in Dubai once their nation’s participation in the competition has concluded.

As well as warm-weather training, Liverpool will also play against Olympique Lyonnais and AC Milan in a friendly tournament called the Dubai Super Cup. Fellow Premier League side Arsenal will also compete in the tournament but not play against the Reds.

Klopp’s men will first meet French outfit Lyon at 2pm GMT (6pm local time) on Sunday December 11, followed by a tie with reigning Serie A champions AC Milan at 3.30pm GMT (7.30pm local time) on Friday December 16.

The tournament will take place at Al-Maktoum Stadium and tickets can be purchased at http://www.dubaisupercup.ae.

Some 23 days after going their separate ways, #LFC players and staff will reconvene tomorrow (Monday 5th December). The good news is that Luis Diaz’s rehab has gone to plan and he’s ready to return to team training.

The break has also enabled Keita and Matip to build up their fitness. World Cup stars set to have a week off from when their involvement in the tournament ends. So Nunez due to link up in Dubai later this week.

I'm really enjoying the World Cup but with the players who didn't make it to Qatar returning to training today and a friendly on Sunday my mind in wondering back to LFC! Here is our schedule:

Sat 12 Nov: Southampton (final game before the World Cup)
Sun 13 Nov – Sun 4 Dec: Time off and international friendlies for the like of Robbo and Salah in the first week
Mon 5 Dec – 16 Dec: 12 day training camp in Dubai with friendlies against Lyon (11 Dec ) and AC Milan (16 Dec)
Sat 17 Dec: Back to training at Kirkby
Thu 22 Dec: Man City (League Cup)
Mon 26 Dec: Aston Villa (PL)

Even with Alisson, Trent, van Djik, Konate, Fabinho, Henderson and Nunez all absent due to the World Cup, and Arthur and Jota injured, we have a strong group of players reconvening for the training camp. Squad looks like this with the addition of some of best prospects from the academy making up the numbers and getting the opportunity to impress training against the seniors.

Training camp in Dubai: Kelleher, Adrian, Ramsay, Robertson, Tsimikas, Matip, Gomez, Phillips, Milner, Thiago, Jones, Keita, Ox, Elliott, Carvalho, Salah, Diaz, and Firmino

We've taken a 33-man squad for the Dubai training camp. Jota and Arthur won't take part in any team training but will continue their rehab in Dubai. That leaves us with the below. Good chance for some of the academy boys to rub shoulders with a strong group of seniors.

                            Kelleher
                             Adrian
                             Davies
                            Pitaluga
                             Mrozek

Ramsay          Matip          Gomez          Robertson
                    Phillips        Quansah          Tsimikas
                                                            Chambers

             Keita          Milner          Thiago
               Ox          Bajcetic         Jones
              Cain         Corness         Clark

              Salah          Firmino          Diaz
              Elliott         Stewart       Carvalho
              Gordon       Frauendorf      Doak

Apparently he felt some discomfort in the knee he injured in October. When he got the injury the knee specialist advised 2 months rest to recover and no surgery. But sounds like there is a possibility that he'll now need surgery that could keep him out for a few months. Very frustrating if that what happens.

Cheers Eagle. Was wondering when and at what time it was on at.

looking fwd to it tbh as it will be good to see us playing again. Disappointing news about Diaz. Had read he returned home alright but not the surgery stuff so hopefully it doesnt require that. Jota is out till sometime in february so its going to be march before he's match fit.  Good news though is that all we have left in the WC is Konate and all the rest avoided injury.

I am pinning all my hopes on Salah turning his form around and ours with it. Hes had a good rest so hopefully found that extra yard again .
