That has to be the main worry for us going in to the new season unless he's thinking of playing agger there!

Not sure who we could bring in to fill that gap - not really got a player that jumps to my mind that we could afford

Figeroa seems the most likely given the press rumours I'd guess. Wayne Bridge could be another possibility given that City are in the process of splashing £17 million on another left back.

i've never been to sure about bridge, i must admit not really seen to much of him (not sure why)

but what comes straight to my mind is can we afford t have him and johnson as our full backs?

I'm not overly impressed with him as well - he seemed solid enough at Wigan but nothing that stood out or made him stand above his peers - I know a lot of hype started about him since he scored from halfway line

Yeah I saw that goal... and a couple of headers I believe...

for positions like fullbacks (even CM's read Alonso), I prefer a player who can make the team better on a consistent basis, defend well, distribute well, overlap well and cross well... I'm not really sold by those kinda wonder goals to be honest...

I am made up Joe Cole has signed for us . I didn't dare believe it could happen , but it looks like it has.
He will want to show Chelsea just what they are missing , which can only be good for us.
Plus he's won a couple of Premiership titles , so perhaps he can inspire our lads to achieve the same !  :buttrock

Keep everything crossed that he passes his medical!!

having both aquilani and cole in the squad gives us a lot of strength, creativity and options in the advanced midfield department. i like it.

I'd like us to keep Aquilani myself dude, i'm not sold on the player but there's no doubt he is talented player. I think it would/will all depend on the strength of the market out there for him. If Hodgson wants to strengthen other areas and the only way he could do that is by selling a couple of players then I'd imagine a bid in excess of£12 million might tempt him. I guess we'll find out pretty soon.

PS. Good shout on the left of midfield, we're actually looking quite crowded out there all of a sudden with Riera, Babel, Jovanovic and now Cole. Maybe it's Babel's position that is most under threat?

you put gerrard and lucas centre midfield joe cole on the left and aquilani in the hole. Hes the type of player that aqua will enjoy playing with.

really hope its figeroa out of those two. in my opinion wayne bridge was the only left back weaker than insua out of the top seven teams last season.

btw, scott - i'm not stalking you, mate, even though it might look like it  :D

There is also rumours of Koncesky being looked at as well ?!

Given how under-whelmed you have been by the signing of Joe Cole I can only imagine how you will feel if Paul Konchesky is the next player to join Liverpool Football Club!

How about Cole on the right side and give Babbel a season on the left to prove himself?

The thing is he gives us more options,

The debates will rage on, but Kuyt did help Holland to a WC Final playing on the right!

If Woy is to give Babel a run then Cole can play behind Torres.

Massive versatility in our front line now with our two FREE signings.

Boom

I would prefer Roy to decide on what position Cole is to play in and play him there every game. I hate rotation and changing systems and all that lark.

awesome signing.....finally a flair player who can score  & create goals....

If we can sort out our LB (i will be happy with agger as a 1st choice LB with carra and skertel in the middle TBH)... and get :

1)remy for our RW
2)the brazilian dude (forgot his name) to replace macherano...

we should have a aquad to challenge for the premierleague....  :buttrock

disclaimer : obviously torres and gerrard to stay (and stay injury free throughout the season)

The room will be buzzing more now. Great stuff from Roy as I was sure he'd go to Harry and Spurs.

Roy is doing great stuff without much money. I have a lot of confidence in this manager. :buttrock

calm down, he's only signed one player for free
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

YAWN!!!!

Unless we are buying Lahm, Ash cole, or even Evra people will moan. (this has been proven by the negativity towards Joe Cole)

Figeroua is a solid Proven premiership player, and much better than Insua (but not Aurelio imo) and would be a solid player.

Look at Evra 134 games for Scum and 1 goal, solid yes, as is Figeroua.
