We will be playing the 1st and quite possibly 2nd game of the season away, as LCF put in a request to the EPL to give as much time on the expansion project at Anfield.

The players are usually back for pre season training in the first week of July as well, the club had better get a bit of a shift on appointing Rodgers new back room staff or there will be no one to train the players. Tomorrow is the 17th and its gone very quiet on that particular front, no sign of any imminent arrivals like.

Expect it will be done in time - better to ensure the appointments are the right one as opposed to get it done as quick as possible.

Don't think there is any need to panic - still plenty of coaches within the club

It would be funny tho, wouldn't it?
First day of training and none is there to take the sessions!
Oh well, nothing that another party trip to Dubai can't fix...

Hopefully we will get a decent enough start and a chance to put some points up and get a bit of confidence flowing. As usual I would expect one of the top 4 in the opening 3.

If he starts the season with us though I reckon he will at least be given until christmas. We would have to pick right up where we left off for it to be any earlier.

Given who we have signed so far I wouldn't rule it out.
At the tail end of last season we were about as poor as I've ever seen a Liverpool side, it's going to take a bit of turning round that. I like the fella but he's got his hands full here.

I agree mate, if you think the previous lot have had Stevie Gerrard to pull the team through, Rodgers doesnt have that priveldge, on top of losing suarez , i just think its way too much for him. We desperately need a new hero to come up through the ranks, but it doesnt look like happening for the forseeable future ...

Good Luck Brendan - youll need it

As much as Im loathe to say it, Stevie G was part of the problem and one of the major distractions. With him gone there will be less pressure because we wont have a living legend at the club. Johnson was another distractions, as was Sterling, and Balotelli was a major pain in the ar'se, who must have put a few noses out of joint in the dressing room.
Theres four (hopefully) who wont be causing any problems next season?

Got to agree with that

Maybe the team can now move on and find their own identity without Gerrard being the main player - allow the team to form with players like Coutinho and allow players like Ibe to flourish

I think we the right signings we could surprise a few and certainly will be in the mix for the top 4

Yakka I honestly think the owners were waiting for Rodgers to walk after sacking his backroom staff, in an effort to avoid paying out his contract from sacking him.

I think they're surprised he hasn't and now there's a bit of a stand off. Might explain the delay in appointing anyone.

Strange situation and I hope I'm wrong. I'd hope the owners were decisive in either sacking or supporting. I'd also hope Rodgers would shoulder some blame for last season and not advocate chopping his mates as a solution.

We'll see.

Loving the optimism mate but I can not see us being close to the top 4 unless drastic desicions are made very soon.

Coutinho is our best player by a long shot but even he blows hot and cold.

Palace did the double over us last year and Stoke humiliated us 6-1

Sturridge will miss the first 6 games at a minimum so unless Ings or whoever plays up there has a great start we could see ourselves drifting away very quickly. Tactically I dont think BR has it in him to make us hard to beat even when we dont play well something Mourinho does and to some extent Rafa did.

Im not going to start slagging BR off as he will be our coach going into the new season so believe we should fully support him but that doesnt mean I believe he is the right man forthe job

Ok seriously, RE; FIXTURES
Look at our run in. After the Chelski game in March we have been handed a life-line.
If BR can't pull this one out the bag by XMAS - There is a certain German who would, given those last set of games!

If the players have got anything about them mate they should be made up with that opening game, it's a great chance to set the record straight.
That run centered around October is very tough though -

MANCHESTER UNITED (A)
norwich  (H)
aston villa  (H)
EVERTON  (A)
TOTTENHAM  (A)
SOUTHAMPTON  (H)
CHELSEA  (A)
crystal palace  (H)
MANCHESTER CITY  (A)

Within the space of 9 games we play 6 of our rivals, 5 of them away from home.
