Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Benny The Noon » Fri Sep 03, 2010 1:31 pm

Its always easy to mention that he was part of a team that finished 7th last season - then again so were many others . Lets also not forget how important he was in wins against mancs, chelsea etc when we came close the season before - as well as helping the team to the latter stages of the CL - as well as keeping Kaka in his pocket during 07 Final . Yes he has left under a cloud and its not nice but people certainly see to forget how bloody important he has been to us on many occasions . People just see masher as just a tackler but his passing is still pretty decent as well . He was outstanding for us and Poulsen is nowhere near his standard - the fact that Barce the best club team in the world got him speaks volumes .

He helped but Alonso was a key reason for that seasons success and last seasons failure not Mascherano. Will he ever be regarded as one of Liverpool's all time greats? Personally I don't think so but Alonso will be and he would be welcome back tomorrow!

Everyone looks good on youtube. :D

Yeah ok he was a top player on his day, we will miss him no doubt about that. But that's the price you pay when you allow the club to slip back behind others. Ok some can call him this and that and I think he acted a complete baby about the whole situation but at the end of the day if we had the money to be bringing players like Villa or Silva im sure he would still be with us now.

Did a decent job Mash no doubt about it but you always felt he was the kind of fella that wasnt afraid to move on. To be fair Barcelona is a hell of a club on bad patch let alone right now with the side they have there, and who wouldnt fancy a crack at playing with those boys. Only thing Mash did wrong was by not turning out against City and the lads tainted his whole time at Liverpool in that moment which is a real shame. As for the future we will create a different team without him and be fine Im confident of that much.

Seriously Bav who can you see in the current line up throwing themselves into tackles like that ...with that amount of ferocity ....

Aside from Gerrard who does that wherever he is playing, no one mate. We don't have anyone left of that quality. Poulsen? Meh... ok short term player but nowhere on Masch's level imo.

We just have to struggle on and hope we can bring in someone of his calibre again when we are sold. But what im most gutted about is that we couldn't get Toure to come this way as part of the deal. Would have been a damn sight better than what we have now.

I actually like Poulson and he was for me the only player who shone against The  Albion .... he gives an assurance in possession
but that said  he is a totally different player than Mascherano ...he was a one off there is currently no player in world football better than The little Chief in a defensive midfield position .... and unless the players are sufficiently fired up to cover his absence by harrying and chasing down their opponents then I think he will be missed more than people think ......
