He has proved himself more in four games than Lucas or Babel have in two years!

Spot on!

Babel wasn't worth £11.5m, Lucas probably not worth even £5m so all three have something in common

Owzat obviously Johnson is not worth £17m depending on what you compare him to. Let's face it Moyes spent £12.5m on Cahill,Arteta,Jagielka and Lescott and is currently showing a profit circa £10m and still has three of the players. That makes Johnson look frighteningly expensive! However closer to home LFC spent nearly £37m on Keane,Babel and Lucas and seeing as I would have one Johnson in my team rather than those three that makes him look cheap! Direct comparison Lescott at £22m or Johnson at £17m - my choice would be Johnson everyday.

Because he has a defender tag people naturally assume that he is not a high value player. I honestly believe that Johnson could quite easily play in midfield and he would also make a good forward. If he had either of those tags his price would go up considerably.

I'm comparing Johnson to other full-backs, what else would you compare him to? If you moved him into midfield he wouldn't be a full-back so his defensive game would be less important but not unimportant. Also the output expectation would increase if his fee/value increased because he became a winger/midfielder, perhaps expecting a Dirk-esque output from him ie 12 goals and lots of assists in the Premiership

He's one of the better full-backs about, but even a top quality full-back can be bought for less than £10m and few cost more than Johnson did. If he was in say the top five FBs in terms of transfer, would that make him in the top five FBs in the world?

Id say so yes, heres my top 5:

Macion
Ramos
Johnson <-- see look
Alves
Lahm

Oh come on, it's far too early too put him amongst those players although I think he has the potential to become one of the best RB's in the world.

Been involved in two out of the four goals so far as well as a goal saving header - gerrard scored two great headers .

No it's not, in fact if Real Madrid offers me a straight swap with Ramos I'd reject the offer.

Alves is different, because he also gives you an extra option in free kicks, but definitely Johnson's game is in the same league of the mentioned players.

I expected him to be a good player because he had the blessings of Bigmick, but even if I expected something really good he has impressed me.

Johnson only made that one defensive mistake in the whole game and they go nuts over it. Ashley Cole got skinned the once in that game and not a word.

Thought he had a great game though and yes i think he is a little fragile at the back but not as bad as the pundits make out.

Also thought Gerrard deserved motm and not lennon!

IS RIGHT, Its sickening how they praise every other players apart from ours. On that fat sh.it rooney when he nearly had achance , towards the end , Tylsley said hes desperate for his hatrick , ffs hed only scored one. Watching that game listening to them didnt half give me the hump

i think i deserved man of the match for having to listen to them  two,

They were sickening to listen to, you're right.

Beckham came on, made one good long range pass and got his @rse licked for it.  He then gives the ball away 2-3 times in quick succession trying more hollywood passes and not a word.

Terry comes right through the back of one of their players with two feet towards the end, no need.  Gets a yellow and the commentators say he got the ball.  It was a red card imo.

Johnson got slated for saving a certain goal.  He did the right thing.  It was a foul (albeit not given) but it was the central defender who allowed Eduardo to peel off the back of him for a certain goal.  Where the fu.ck were Terry and Upson??  Johnson did well to get back and make the covering challenge.  Even if a pen was given, it was a certainty Eduardo would have headed it in anyway.  So what's the problem with Johnson?? :no

The weak link in that team is Upson, not Johnson.  He gets caught ball watching all the time.  Don't rate him at that level and England better hope Ferdinand and Terry are fit for the WC, because there isn't really any top class cover imo.

Going off topic but why is Beckham in the team if it is not to pad his "caps" figures, strange. He gives us nothing we do not have, is 34 so we should be thinking about the future and give younger players a chance at gaining experience. It seems like he was paying McLaren and now Cappello to put him in the team so as to be remembered as an England legend. He was good but should not be held in the same context as real England legends.

Over-rated player that had a great PR firm on retainer

to blame him for the croatia goal was laughable. the bandwagon has quite frankly become pathetic. the ball was bobbling around in the penalty area for about half an hour and no defender got anywhere near it. green should also have thrown his cap on the second effort.
