Fabio aurelio wing back? ur havin a laff

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Im very prote\ctive of new players at our club, and give them time to settle , usually first season is a given as settling period, but its quie obvious his defensive qualities are seriously lacking, everything came down our left from galatassary yesterday, and alltho lil luis garcia must shoulder some blame too, he was aful defensively.Great going forward , but he was at heart of all things bad yesterday. So i propse that if rafa plays him he should for moment at least have someone more defensively minded ahead of him than lil luis or play him left mid with someone who can defend behind, Sound fair? ??? im not hating on the guy in any form, like i said ill let him have extended period to adapt, but we cant afford to give teams that option they had yesterday to explot him, or we may be looking at another hiding like we got at blue noses

We should give Riise a long run with agger, carragher, and finnan and just use aurelio on the left of a 3-5-2 like this:
                                 GK Reina

CB Carragher               CB Hyypia                   CB Agger

        RWB Finnan                                                  LWB Aurelio

                                CM Sissoko         CM Alonso

                                          CAM Gerrard

     RWF Bellamy
                                                            CF Kuyt

how dare you gun one of our players?!

just because he's not had one decent game for us yet AND that he was directly responsible for their goals last night, doesnt mean you should bomb on the guy! he's still an lfc player, support him no matter how sh1t he's playing.

big up salif diao whose wages we pay also! :)

JAR is far better defensively and would not have been as exposed as Aurelio was last night! You can't doubt the quality of Aurelio's left foot though (class). I am all for giving players new to the EPL time and this will be the same with Aurelio!

pablo yawn, theres a difference between constructive observations and laying into the guy without basing it upon any reality other than ur own dumb oppinion and obvious hatred for a guy who is infinitely nicer, more talented and liked than urself

agreed hacksaw, exactly what i said m8, im not trying to slag him off, im saying he needs protecting or to play in a position where those frailties arent exposed till he adapts, and yes im not doubting his obvious attacking abilities. I think over time he'll be an important player

I don't agree you on that one. FAbio Aurelio had to dance with the ugliest woman in the dance club and he wasn't helped as LG was on attacking role and when we lost possesion up there, we struggled.

I think he is a LB, the best of the team if you ask me.

Unfortunately there are so many things I disagree with in the original post and in Pablo's reply, that going into detail would take too long.

Suffice to say that I think the fact that the majority of Galatasarays attacks came from down the right side (though not all, the first goal came from their left side) was more to do with the non-existent protection which Luis Garcia affords the full-back who is playing behind him than in defensive faults displayed by Aurelio. To describe him as being awful defensively betrays a basic lack of footballing knowledge in my opinion.

It's getting to the stage with Aurelio, a little bit like Peter Crouch that I'm tempted to say that those who can't see he's a good player just don't know what they are looking at. Pablo's comments on the big striker yesterday were bordering on the ridiculous, and this attack on Aurelio based on yesterdays performance is similarly bizarre.

big mick i never said he was a bad player and unfortunately i think u r wrong the number of times they passed the ball acrross the field right thrugh middle of park and were able to walk straight down our left flank was ridiculous, If you read what i said i felt garcia was to blame too, but its not just one match either hes been exposed in a few games at left back, where his positioning has been bad. Ok i probably was harsh saying he was aful, and take that back, but i still feel that if you have him as leftback, he shouldnt be played with someone whos not going to be able to offer some sort of cover, unlike garcia, whos not got defensive abilities as his strongest ability. or play him on left wing where he can abandon these duities slightly. also JAR is far better left back in my oppinion. This problem with his positioning was highlighted on skysports during the game also, so not just my oppinion

The only 1 good thing fabio has done so far was that he provided a cross for Crouch's First goal. After that he weren't all that.:p

I agree, you put what I thought in better english.

Somebody may argue that he should have tackled more Sabri, or not leaving him so much space so that he didn't cross. BUT HE COULDN'T AFFORD THAT. With the line up we put on the pitch, and just Alonso making the cover, he didn't have the help of other mates to cover that wing, so he hold his position instead of tackling. Unfortunately, the crossing ability of their right winger was exceptional.
