mmm people believing the league is the mancs, well 14 games on the trot now without conceding and being 5 points clear might have something to do with that, while we already knew what we had to do when we went to pompey and still managed to nearly blow it.

we will see how important the league is tomorrow

Some posts removed at Nanny's request.

(Apparently a family member has learnt how to get out of his straight jacket escape from his cage and use a keyboard. :D )

I wonder if he will put his undefeated record at risk when we travel to old trafford :p

didnt win this one with a bermenstein thread start

question to owzat - what are bermensteins win thread stats?

:D

Luckily I'm curious if it can be easily done, looking quite easy so far, but I'm only going to do the league (for now)

Didn't take very long, so I may toy with doing the other competitions

*Ciggy has started four threads, but we haven't played Man City yet

Bermenstein is the main man, five wins and crucially all three against Chelsea and Man Utd. When the fixture at Old Trafford comes around he MUST start it, any other member doing so should have their thread deleted and be banned for life

St Michael is a right Jonah, we drew three home games we should have won and suffered our only league defeat when he started the matchday threads. I think a ban isn't enough, for crimes against Liverpool Football Club I suggest he stand trial for treason with the penalty, death - if we don't win the league it's through points he's dropped! :p Narrow home wins over Pompey and Boro may not be enough to save him

The people with 100% records should stand by in reserve  :D

I think the lack of belief is still a major sign of how things have changed in 20 years of being a Liverpool fan. In days of old, there would have been no doubt that the league was ours for the taking and that a double was on. Nowadays, we can all see a chance of former glories being restored, but we don't want to get our hopes up and let ourselves get too disappointed. Does that make us bad fans, no, it just highlights what we all know and talk about week in and week out, that the gap in quality within our squad is huge....it isn't just 1 or 2 players as we keep hopefully stating, we're probably about 60% there with the chance of 25% of that passing its' expiry date before we achieve anything. That's the problem and the fear and secretly we're all thinking that Rafa has actually lucked out or worked miracles this season and this might be as good as it gets.

I don't think any of us really honestly believes that we are going to win all the games and more importantly have the balls to keep the momentum going should we overtake ManU and actually do the winning. A lot of us have equated the slip ups over Christmas to indicate that we haven't got it in us to do that.

From the optimistic perspective, I think characteristically we are fighters and chasers...that's how we have achieved everything under Rafa until now and in that way, our current predicament suits us down to the ground. What would be optimal would be to see the equivalent of the Istanbul drama drawn out over the next 13 weeks and see if we can just squeeze over the finishing line ahead of everyone else. If things could map out like that, we're still in with a chance.

Even if we drop a point or 2, there's still a lot that can happen in 13 weeks. Look at where Utd were 13 weeks ago. I know I was ripping the sh1t out of my cousin (fair weather ManU fan) that the dream was over...didn't believe it, but the fun was good while it lasted. ManU have a lot of games to go, a lot at stake and a lot of pressure. Chelsea have crumbled in the last few seasons under similar pressure, though Utd have a proven track record of being able to raise their game and deal.

I think we're all thinking the same, we need to take up the mantle of keeping the pressure on ManU till the end. We shouldn't underestimate the pressure of them being so far out front at the moment, but us chasing behind. If the tables were turned, you can guarantee that people on here would be shi1tting it that the Mancs were on our tail...well we're those guys and I am sure that Fergie is concerned.

If we stay in all the way and don't finish ahead, I'll be upset, but I won't be gutted. Put it back to the beginning of the season and look at our goals, we wanted to be challenging to the end and have the gap closed....if we maintain this, we've achieve our goals. If we can take some silverware in the process, awesome.

The most important part of this season is convincing the world that we are title challengers again and make LFC an attractive option for the top grade players who don't want to sit on a bench for 1/2 season at Utd or Chelsea and don't consider Villa or Arsenal viable options. We can't do anything about the economic situation, but my feeling is that only helps our cause, cos prices and wages have to come down as the money that we have to spend will remain more or less the same.

Let's also not forget that bignose is on his last legs too...they must be sh1tting themselves when he decides to hang up his whisky flask. Who's to say that if they achieve the quadruple that he won't just walk away  :D

I am happy enough with my own personal results, two wins are excellent, the draw was against Atletico Madrid and the defeat was our Carling Cup exit at spudz which is of no real consequence and kept our fixtures down to a manageable number.

Bermenstein has an excellent record, especially the three wins over Chelsea and Man Utd, BUT why has he only started seven threads out of 38?!?! 18 people have started matchday threads this season, the most successful hasn't even started the most threads.

St Michael remains a Jonah, add the FA Cup drawn game against the bitters to his list of offences. Most threads started, six of the 16 games we didn't win to add to his charge sheet

After not winning it for so many years we should have been treating every game as a cup final not now when we have been over taken. Anyway id be happy with a 2nd place finish I think most people would have liked that pre season. The problem is we drop too many points. I am more optimistic with Europe as it's the only thing we seem to be able to get right.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.
