After the same number of games played in 06-07 we had won 5, drew 3, lost 5 scored 14 conceded 15 and had 18 points two more than we have now. We were tenth after 13 games in 06-07 and finished third after 38 games. 

True the premiership has changed since then as has our squad but the race for fourth has a long way to go and we're far from out of it.

People are panicking for no reason, we're in front of Newcastle, we are just four points behind Arsenal and Spurs and five behind Everton. If we can carry on our unbeaten streak and start turning those draws into wins, we'll mount that table. We do need to bring in an attacker though, someone who can put the ball in the net. Though it would help if we had a bit more rub of the green, how many more times are we going to hit the woodwork and fall foul to refereeing errors this season? It's getting beyond a joke tbh and decisions like these need video replays as the sooner it's introduced the better.

Two potentially match winning goals that were wrongly judged to be offside. Theres 4 points right there. Bad backpass against city dropped another 2 points, so theres 6 altogether.

If that is true, and that is a BIG if, we need to ask the owners to kindly f**k off at the end of the season. It is simply unacceptable to continue playing with one forward for the whole season, granted we get Borini back in about a months time.

If you do the maths, they haven't invested that much money into the club, yes we have splashed cash on a number of underachieveing players under their tenure but net spend paints a much different story. Also the whole point of appointing a new manager is to back him with a transfer kitty and if they are unable or unwilling to do this over two transfer periods, they need to be shown the door.

To add to this many haven't been a fan of the way they popped their turtle heads into shells while the Evra-gate debarcle was destroying our club, brand and reputation last season and we are no closer to a new stadium either.

Otherwise it maybe a diversion tactic to not pay an over-inflated transfer fee on a new striker.

We will find out by Feb 1st where we stand with these owners.

It would be financially irresponsible to spend big when we have 4 high earning flops to ship out(Cole, Carroll, Henderson, Downing). If we get back half of the money wasted on these players I think that is not bad.

I'd agree there, really don't want Sturridge here. Yet another overrated English player. I'd agree with trying to get Lukaku, he would fit in far more easily into BRs style.

What is wrong with Rodgers? He's talking like a hypocrite politician. A few weeks back he said there would be significant signings to bolster the squad in January. Now he's retracting what he had said and telling us to expect a quiet January because the club needs to balance the books. I remember when first appointed he said many things which were music to our ears like "Title bid begins today", "I want to make the 90 minutes at Anfield for our opponents to be their longest in their lives" etc etc and after the W.Brom game, he told us fans to expect more games like that and there were no quick fixes.

I've certainly seen a lot of good possession and attacking football under him though in terms of points collected up to now per se is not much different to the Hodgson nightmare. Gerrard has past him prime and we need a replacement for him and a more clinical finisher to partner L.S. I am NOT demanding Rodgers' head because to date, he hasn't been given the chance to manage the way he wants to manage. But my point is, he has the tendency to say one thing that is usually positive and a few weeks later say the opposite. I find it hard to trust his words now.

This is my main gripe. The guy plays down everything all the time, JUST LIKE ROY we have no money, i wont have enough time to turn this around, blah blah blah. he bigs up displays that are ok at best and wastful at worst. Im starting to wonder if hes a Yes man. IE the board tell him what to say and he says it.

We didnt appoint him to help us to midtable fodder and being told all the time that the rebuild will take longer than his contract just make us look small time.

Yep can't fault any of that. There seem to be a lot of nasty contradictions creeping into his statements, he needs to stamp out that nonsense and grow a pair.

I dare Man City will follow suit as their owners are using their own companies to balance the books at City. If both clubs start meeting the FFP rules which Chelsea currently are, then the goal posts change once more. The Owners are hiding behind FFP as a reason not to spend money. The major clubs in Europe at the moment can afford to spend our entire transfer budget on a single player. If FSG are serious about getting us competing then more sponsorship deals are needed and an expansion of Anfield is a necessity. If they cannot do this, then they should hold their hands up, admit they cannot and sell us to someone who can and no I don't mean sell us to a Sugar Daddy so we become his play thing.

Exactly, TBH, this FSG have overstayed their welcome. They' got us out of possible administration 2 years ago and now they do not have the funds to move us forward. And for a club like Liverpool with high expectations because of our rich history, this is totally unacceptable, maybe to a mid table side but definitely not Liverpool. If they are going to be like this next summer, then they must sell to someone who can provide the funds to sign the players we need leave otherwise we'll be a stranded at mid table like now.

I don't believe that the Chelsea fugures include their summer spending and it was a very strange time to finish your financial year, it was done purely to incorporate the money from their Champ league run and win. They will soon be back in the red with this years spending and pay off of the managers and limited champs league football (once they get knocked out)

this was always going to happen that the big spenders will break even one way or another and fenway were naive to think otherwise.
they have made no secret as to what they want here and thats to make money while spending very little. we go cap in hand looking for players on loan deals or for below market value which is no where near good enough for a club of our stature.
ill judge rodgers after his next 2 transfer windows to see what his idea of the players we need to get us up there and like wise with fsg and the amount of money they make available to do that.
we are one of the biggest footballing clubs in the world and im not accepting any of this mediocrity palava because that word was never ever assoiciated with this club till fenway arrived here.
