Looks like the top 10 won't be out until tomorrow,

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport....11.html

Is it fair to put Pennant (41), Diao (32), Cheyrou (29), Kewell (20), Keane (12) in there? There are only four manc signings, I reckon Taibi, Veron, Blanc and Forlan must be candidates to make that list and I wouldn't put all of those in the top ten. I think it's a bit harsh on Ali Dia, it was a laughable situation but he cost nothing moving to an ok club (at the time) so worth a chuckle, but a place in worst transfer history lists?!?!

The list passes my plausibility time test, I reckon 12 out of the 40 still play in the Premiership (or are owned by a Premiership club in the case of Kitson) If it had been heavily weighted to current players then I might have doubted its validity, like having a top 100 all time greatest singles list with 60-90% having been released since 2000 in a chart that's been around about 50 odd years. I think they do some of the 100 countdowns by sales, like the top 100 films and you end up with a top 10 of recent box office hits and films from back when TV's weren't in many houses let alone one in every kid's room.

To make this relevant to Liverpool FC as much as the general Premiership forum, who would you put in our top 10? We'll make it Premiership history, I expect to see the likes of Piechnik and Dundee get mentions. Robbie Keane a flop? He may not have had a long time to prove himself, but lasting only six months hardly makes the move a success. If you do a top 10, if possible could you put the manager who signed the player next to the transfer. Would be interesting to see how many times Souness, Evans, Houllier and Benitez appear. The five in the list between 50-11 are split three Houllier, two Benitez - although Im pretty sure Rafa sold/offloaded all of them

EDIT : looks as if they cheated a bit by putting two transfers as one at number one (Veron)

Top 10 should in theory be out tomorrow, he might be in that. Veron could arguably be in it twice, £28.1m to the mancs and then £15m to Chelsea. £43.1m and how many seasons did he stay in England?

harry kewell 5m quid and a flop?

he wasn't a brilliant performer but to get 4 or 5 years out of a 5m player (and win things too) is hardly a flop

I agree Doc. Kewel may not have been the greatest player in the world, but he's hardly a flop.

Some if those names on that list are strange, to say the least.

How many games did we get out of him in those 4-5 years though? I reckon that's why he's marked down as a flop. He did play fairly well on the rare occasions he was fit though which used to mysteriously coincide with when Australia were playing.

Did Sunderland really spend £12m on Tore Andre Flo? ???

just looked this up myself, its £6.75m they bought him for. Wonder how many others are wrong  :p

Its a very strange list. Number 38 is a free transfer for God's sake! Just how bad do you have to be
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

harry kewell = 136 games/16 goals in 4 seasons

to put into context :
nani
2 seasons, 38games/4goals, 17million quid  :D
hargreaves
2 seasons, 25/2 17 millions quid  :upside:

neither of those are on that that list (unless they're in the top10)

strange that we have 4 bargain basement players we bought for 3.5m,5m,5m,6m  on the list

:suspect:

Only problem kewell had for us was injuries - things would of been different for him if he was fit more often . His first season up until he got injured he was very very good . then 05/06 he had a very good season for us while injury free and helped us win the FA Cup.

Some of the names there are jokes , where's berbatov he better be in the top 10 , him costing 30 million makes torres look like a free transfer . Knowing the papers however i doubt we will see berbatov in that top 10 , forlan did okay with the amount of time he had at manu

I dont understand how Winston Bogarde is only at number 38, he deserves to be in the top 5.

The guy is a hero => happy reading!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winston_Bogarde

A similar thing to this was done by the Times in 2007 and Ali Dia was No 1, I cannot believe there are 29 worse than him since 2007. :D
