He's not top of the shop but has certainly been doing the business. Think I once described Benayoun as a "Luis Garcia lite", not quite as surprising as Lil' Luis but also not as frustrating. I was quite happy when we signed him, anyone that watched him play for West Ham knew we were getting an intelligent footballer, very comfortable with the ball at his feet and more than capable of producing a trick or two. He's had a bit of an up and down time since arriving at Anfield, perhaps due to the fact that he's been in and out of the team or possibly vice-versa, either way , as someones already pointed out his form since the turn of the year has been as good as anyones'. Hopefully the fella is given more starting opportunities and he continues to "perform".

Although he is no slouch pace wise and maybe he was tired but did you see the way Walcott left him for dead for the 4th goal, I am not having a go at Yossi but it was scary watching the gap grow bigger and bigger as he pulled away with Yossi trying his best to keep up, that kid can move !!

yeh, similar to how babel left fabregas for dead in the champions' league tie last season... ur point is?

walcott's main asset is his pace - that's no secret. add to that the fact he came on as a 2nd half sub in a frantic game: i think ur observation is . love the sig tho

And Babel, I dont seem to be able to find the bit where I mentioned if he ran faster than Walcott  or if Yossi is slower than Fabregas

As for Stevie praising Babel live on Television, he is the Captain of the club he was hardly going to say how he is, therefore your observation is and I dont like your Avatar

I hope that after his second half showing the other night, as well as Dirk's, after they swapped positions, convinces Rafa to play Yossi in the Gerrard role more often.

but where are you then going to play gerrard? you could push him out to the right, or who do you leave out if he drops back in behind bennie alonso or mash?

on the bennie thing i have to say at the start of the season i would have said get rid but he has come on so much over the last few months i would say keep him, whether he would be happy sitting on the bench as much next season would have to be seen, if we do get another striker and winger it would/could push him down the pecking order

Yossi has played out of his skin and been as good as anyone in the team the past 3 months. Agree with St.Mick that he is at his best playing through the middle where he has a nack (much like Garcia) to drift into space, receive the ball, face up quickly and make things happen. He's really stepped it up since the turn of the year and it seems he found a level of form and confidence (in himself and from the manager) that should enable him to go on be a big player for us again next season. I also love the fact that the fans seem to have made a big impression on him (see his quotes after the fulham game) and he appreciates how special the club is. The players who really 'get that' seem to fight that little bit harder for the cause.

Forget comparisons with Garcia, he's starting to remind me of Beardsley a lot. He's starting to harry the opposition a lot more as well now.

Diving in like that to score our second was exactly the attitude you want from a player. That's where my criticism of Babel lies, could you see him diving in like that? Not in a million years.

Yeah he doesn't seem interested at times. He is a waste of space and money. If he hasn't improved after 2 years then it's time to ship him off.

great lil player but for me next season hell be a sub again, at the moment id start him everyweek but next season we will hopefully have a couple more wingers so he will be a great impact player
this isnt a slight on benny but i reckon its him or gerrard and theres only one winner there
we have to keep him because coming off the bench and even filling in for injured players you couldnt ask for better really

I'm not happy he's being offered a new contract. I've posted many's a time on here that I don't think he's up to a whole lot. Granted he has had a few decent performances in recent weeks, but overall I think he's too slight, doesn't work hard enough to track back, and he can be anonymous for large stretches of a game. A useful squad player perhaps, and perhaps I am being too greedy and comparing our first-team AND bench with our peers, but I really don't see how or who Benny would displace at Chavski, Arsenal or the Scum.....and for that reason alone, I would see Benny as being at least ONE of the squad who just isn't good enough...

Again, I've repeated this time and again, but I deeply and passionately believe that we need players of the character and commitment of old. The likes of Souness, Dalglish, McMahon. Players who are in your face, all over you like a rash, and who will suffocate you if you play the fancy stuff...Benny is not one of them (nor is Lucas for that matter, but that's for another thread..)
