5th place - The race for Europe is on

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Come on guys, be realistic. City will have to drop at least 7 points (if we manage to get a better goal difference than them) out of 9 possible, not to mention, we'll have to win all 9 points untill the end of the season. I don't think that that's realistic. 5th though is very realistic. It is more likely for us to get 5th than Spurs, and to be honest, I'll be happy with 5th after this season. Next season will be a different story.

the goal difference will be made up naturally should the results go our away, there's no need to worry about GD

It's not realistic, maybe if City win the FA cup they'll suffer a hangover and Stoke will go on a revenge mission.

But Bolton have nothing to play for so City would save it for the last day to screw us over

Then again City without Tevez are pretty blunt

city would have to lose most of their games?

not likely.

But i dont want 5th either. waste of time! thursday night games and having to then play a match on the weekend, for a second rate cup.

dont bother.

6th will do. then rebuild the midfield in the summer, and go for the Prem and the Prem alone.

thats where i come out. :suspect:

It depends on how you look at it. For me as a fan playing in the europa cup means nothing if we don't win it but to prospective players its an advantage if we are in it. Also gives some of the younger players the chance to play in europe.

Igor Zidane wrote:Hodgson had no respect for the fans or the club , he was a fraud and was found out . I still can't believe he was a manager of LFC . I stand by the sh !t i gave him in the end , it was either him or us fighting relegation . We did the right thing and it's being proven now.

He didnt get us because he wasnt prepped or prepared. He probably thought we were just another big club who had hit hard times and had supporters who were peeved that we hadnt qualified for europe. He expected a challenge. What he got was a war zone. He took over a club that was in meltdown on and off the pitch, because of two scheming lying cu'nts and a manager who had lost the plot. The players were so demoralised that they looked like a bunch of amateur strangers who had never seen a ball before, never mind kicked one. The fans were split, so much so that they were battling like rivals from different parts of the country. He thought his methods and procedures would stabilise the club and stop the decline. He totally underestimated the size and scale of the job he had taken on and was on the back foot from day one. He lurched from disaster to disaster like a boxer taking shot after shot on the chin with no answer back. Eventually he realised (was told) his time was up and threw the towel in. I dont think he disrespected us and I dont think he was a fraud. He was naive, ignorant and clueless of what was actually happening and couldnt cope. I doubt if anyone could have sorted the mess out at that time, including KK, and we owe a debt of gratitude to Woy for being the focus of all the sh'it that was about. All the bile and hatred, all the frustration and anger, all the finger pointing and recriminations were firmly dropped on his doorstep, rightly or wrongly. Without him who knows what would have happened?

We wont get 4th mainly due to Roy.  We didnt get anywhere near enough points when he was manager and then he goes and beats us with West Brom.  :(

Had Kenny been here from the start of the season we'd have walked 4th imo.

We need them to draw one and lose two or lose all three

And of course we have to win all our remaining games........

I think not

I'm under the impression that if man c beat stoke in the fa cup final, Stoke will need Man city to finish in the champs league spot to ensure they themselves can get into the eufa cup, and guess what? Stoke play man city away after the final.  :(

ah I fofrgot about this little mishap by the premier league. Might as well put your house on City getting fourth, Stoke will bend over

btw they said one of the reasons is because you can't have games at the ground 2 weeks before the CL final. Are the playoffs happening later than normal because of this then?

another question

how did we end up with Europa league football this season by virtue of finishing 7th? was it because of the fair play league?
