the fact remains however we want to look at it is that we have scored one goal in 3 games, thats not going to win us anything. i know AB will use the argument thats uts only 3 games, and i will respond as i always do, last season chelski lost one, the season before the @rse lost none. we can not afford to drop points and when we cant score goals we will drop points. thats a fact

Point taken, however it will be no easy matter to cut down what was almost a 40 point gap between ourselves and Chelsea. We can accomplish it however it will take one step at a time. Winning the Champions League was great, no doubts about that but I personally did not expect us to challenge Chelsea just because we won it. There's a lot of improvements that need to be made in order for us to do that and by that I mean is that we need 2 or 3 players (CB,LB,RW).

Man Utd imo are the only ones that will fight with Chelsea all season long but that will depend on Van Nistelrooy and Rooney. Reason being is that thus far the pair of them have helped Man Utd win games, if they get into a bad form it will be hard for Utd. They still haven't strengthen their midfield, and no Alan Smith is not the replacement for either Keane or Scholes.

Arsenal are 8 points behind Chelsea, with a game in hand. And it won't be easy for them either. Without Ljunberg,Henry and Vieira they look deplated. Wenger has made a huge mistake by not replacing Vieira. Fabregas and Flamini are good and ones for the future but not ready to fit Vieira's boots.

Goals will come, I firmly believe that. Like you said you can't win games without scoring goals but you can't score goals if you don't create chances. We've created chances in all three games despite what a minority of people have said. It would be a huge problem if we weren't creating chances, but we are and we've been close. We are capable of scoring goals and I think it will be sooner rather than later when we start doing it.

true, we have created chances and we do ned to play with two front men to have any chance of putting them away

I'm 50-50 with the 4-4-2 formation. Yes having two strikers up front is great but even when we played 4-5-1 we created chances. Against the Spurs in the second half after Crouch was taken off we went to 4-5-1 and I think we played a bit more fluidly.[spelling?]

It's not the formation, but it's more the players. After Alonso and Sissoko came on, we played better.

I just wished Cisse had his shooting boots on...

Why you wanted to compare with chelsea ??? If Liverpool have anything the same as chelsea but we are 10 points behind them , then I think we are all worry.

As for me , at the end of the season we can close the gap and improve than last season ... I would be very happy ...

well said. i think for most of us here would be happy if we can close the gap and if we can make a good challenge in the CL, FA Cup we would take that as a sign of improvement.

although we are 10 points behind Chelski (but with 2 games in hand), it must be noted that the games we played so far, Boro away and Spurs away are traditionally hard games. to walk away with a point each and we didn't leak any goals at the back, yeah we could have done better but i am not complaining.
Bill Shankly after beating Everton in the '71 cup semi : "Sickness would not have kept me away from this one. If I'd been dead, I would have had them bring the casket to the ground, prop it up in the stands and cut a hole in the lid."

10 points down alredy. 5 points from 3 games. 2 games to go which could get you 6 more points thats 11 total and 4 adrift. Your next 2 games are Manu home and Birmingham away. I really dont know what results to expect as Manu look on good form and your away performances have not been great. Then you play us which will be another tough game.

Some say its way early on in the season, but IMO its a point of concern to fall way behind first spot. You could see it in Wengers eyes at the Post-Match after Arsenal lost that he really didnt expect them to win anything this season and that he felt like an idiot selling Viera and not getting a replacement. We might not be playing the best football, but we are not conceding goals and are managing to win every game. I do feel we might loose a few this season but there is a possibility we might not as our MF of Maka-Lampard-Essien looks just about perfect in front of the back 4.

Rafa will need to grind 2 wins in the next 2 games if you are to keep pace with first spot.

Good luck.

ps - I still stand by my thought that selling Milan Baros was a HUGE mistake.

selling Baros was not a mistake---- the mistake was not replacing him

That's is not a mistake .... that's normal .... a player been sold to another club . OHH I forget that chelsea is the club that not only can buy players, but they also can buy ref, EPL, FA CUP and CL at the same time .:D

Agreed on both points, we are lacking serious fire power, and Stevie isnt 100% fit yet either. But we cant rely on one player to win us games either.
Cisse's face on saturday was a picture I really hope him and Rafa sort out their diffrences if anyone can get us goals it is him.
The jury is still out on Peter Crouch he is really unfit, send him to Mellors mums for some scouse  :D
The thing is we have only scored one goal from a free kick there has been no goals from open play, which is a big big worry.
We have only scored one goal thats the same as the bitters and Newcastle ???  The good news is we havent conceded any which brings me to saturday, and Reina's decision making on another day it could have been 2 nil, he made some good saves he also made 2 very very bad mistakes and we would have been punished big time.
The problem with some people on this forum is your not supposed to critise the team just praise them to the highest hilt, well whats the point in this forum if everyone just agree's and says oh Im just made up weve conceded no goals.
Get real, Tottenham where the better team on saturday we need major inprovements. And fast.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
