Cisse not worried

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

From TalkLFC.com
Djibril Cisse expects Rafa Benitez to be wielding the axe in January but is not too worried about his own Anfield career.

Cisse said: "In January there will be a kind of elimination process process. I would say along the lines of Pop Idol or Fame Academy.

"We are having to live with the expectation that an extra forward will probably arrive during the transfer window and that will mean more players competing for the same position. It is natural that the manager would want to improve the squad but it may not mean good news for everyone.

"I'm not too worried because I have scored 11 goals already this season and that is inspite of the change in personnel the coach likes to to use almost every game."

Who exactly the Frenchman is hinting at is not clear but rumours are flying around Anfield. Jerzy Dudek's agent publicly admitted a few weeks ago that a move to Benfica would be good for his client and Benitez today slapped a four million pound pricetag on the head of Chris Kirkland.

As we said earlier, Djimi Traore may also be receiving a one way departure from John Lennon aeroport. Cisse hints at a new forward being brought in so that could mean the end of Florent Sinama Pongolle rather than Fernando Morientes.

Whether Cisse has done himself any favours by making a public statement like this remains to be seen. Benitez wants his players to be disciplined and Cisse discussing the club's transfer strategy may not be the best way to endear himself with the manager.

I don't think Cisse should be making comments in public regarding who we will sell/buy in January, it really doesn't do him any favours. Yes he's scored 11 goals but I don't think he's played well in any our games.

He has extradionary speed and a powerful shoot but seems to be the only attributes he posses. No intelligence on the ball what so ever, and he has a poor first touch. What seems to bother Benitez the most is the fact that Cisse does not work for the team.

Have you seen him play? If so, how good is he? Would he be the type of striker for Rafa's system?

I've seen Kuyt play a few times on late night footy on channel 5. Kuyt is definitely Rafas kind of player and would fit in his system. Seriously this guy works very hard for the team and virtually covers every blade of grass in a match but yet still manages to be a prolific scorer. He is good in the air, is a good finisher and also creates opportunities for his team mates. The only reservation I have about him is that he is not that quick and this could a problem for him in the epl and could turn out to be like Morientes - Quality player but lack of pace seriously hinders him. What I wouldn't do though is sell our only striker who is getting regular goals to buy Kuyt who we don't know how hes gonna turn out in the prem cause if he ends up flopping, then we'd be in serious trouble.

he is similar to a young alan shearer  ,big strong with  a powerful shot,he would easily be able to play in rafa's system,no doubt about it,he is a regular for holland and chelsea and tottenham are watching developments now he has stated he is  available next season.

Its probably safe to say that Cisse will be going in January ecspecially after the face on him yesterday when he was subbed after 50 minutes, and shaking his head at Rafa.
Most players get subbed FFS get on with it, even though TBH he has been subbed more than anyone currently in the starting 11.
The thing is though we stand to loose an awful lot of money she he be sold or loaned out, he's cuptied, he's had the leg break and his personality at times does him no favours.
But who would be a replacement for him?
Who is not cuptied Dirk Kuijt? Fernando Torres?
Kuijt would be my ideal replacement for Cisse proper hard worker good team spirit, has the same engine as Momo Sissoko, can play outwide would be a great partner for Crouchino.
The writings on the wall for Djibril im afraid FFS Ill have to change me ID again :D

Kuijt's lack of pace [according to Stoney] could be a problem. Personally I think that Cisse won't be sold in January but in the summer instead.

Cant agree with you on that one Stoney mate, kuijt has loads of pace Ive watched him alot for club and country he's a cracker, bags of talent he's scored 69 goals in 3 seasons.
Big problem though is Spurs want him and with Jol and Davids in the team they might just twist his arm plus they can outbid us :glare:

:D  Kuyt like Fowler is not the quickest of players but over the first two feet he's like lightening . :D

As for Cisse being subbed 6 mins into the second half ,I still don't understand a substitution at that stage of the game ,can someone explain ? did I miss something ? , was somebody injured ? surely the half time talk didn't include "btw Djib ,you play for another 6 mins and then we'll pull you off " ?
No wonder Cisse looked nonplussed .

The players I see gone in January are, Kewell, Cisse, Traore, Josemi, Pongolle, Mellor and Potter.

It was actually only after 3 minutes. I suspect that Rafa wanted to make the change at half time but there was probably some silly problem with Kewell, like him having the wrong pair of boots on. It happens.

This night sound strange but i want players who are cup tied in europe, we have a squad capable of winning the champions league and any new signing from europe would be able to come to terms of the prem without the involvement of Europe.

I dont see the big deal, they are only going to miss half a season of european football anyway.

And Woof, i think rafa wanted to make an example of him, Kewell was ready to come on at half time and he must have been warned to up his work rate or hed be off, and Rafa has kept to his word.

I don't think it's a matter of Spurs having more money for him, it's the fact that they would probably overpay just to get him where as Benitez wouldn't do that.

He was hardly doing anything on the pitch, hardly making an impact on the game. He shouldn't had made any faces because he was sh1t and he knows it.

i agree A.B cisse isn't playing well at all! and yesterday wasn't a good day for him either. in the first half he was just running with the ball not creating chances. if he keeps that up surly he will leave this january.
