Nothing wrong with fans giving players and managers of other teams stick and them giving it back. If a group of fans can't take stick then they shouldn't give it.

1. What should he have done in the league, made other top teams worse?

2. He took a fraction of the payoff he was entitled to, and I cannot believe you would use someone donating to a charity as a stick to beat them with, if it was made public so what? -it sure as hell wasnt Benitez that made it known

Im not even in the Pro camp man but your total contempt for our ex-manager really irks me, do you have as bad a word to say about any other ex-LFC managers?

(1) we finished below everton in his first season and I was only happy with 2 campaigns, I think rotation was terrible and that he bought and sold poorly - on average.

(2) He is a multi millionaire who had another big job lined up (do you think he thought he would be on the dole?) He could have taken nothing to give the club a better chance. Also- I believe his spin doctors made his donations public

(3)fair enough, not his fault the hero worship here but I have a feeling that he tries to flame it - see comments this week. Also - i think Houllier is a kunt for slagging off Roy Evans but expect no more from a man who called one of his key players for france " a criminal" for giving the ball away. Also, one of our greatest ever players - Souness sold his story to the sun in 1992. Evans and Kenny are my heroes (fagan a bit before my time)

Harry did do him fair play to him.  But I still like to see how Rafa is doing but I havent insulted Roy,  I think its not looking good for him and he is one of the architects of his own doom, but I still havent insulted him

Oh sorry this is a Rafa thread, but the two do seem to be intertwined somewhat these days.

On Rafa, well its early days and he has to get the team playing his way, but still some people just love insulting the guy, I mean before xmas as well.  How insane and rude is it to actually insult a manager who has just taken over the managers job from a top ranking team that have just lost an iconic manager.  Some people get knarked if this type of thing happens to any manager and I can sympathise with that point of view.  Its madness to insult any manager in a vitriollic way when he is new to the role and the previous guy was loved so much.  I mean anybody that does that to any manager has to seriously look at themselves as it seems like their personal hatred or need to be proven right all the time has clouded their otherwise wonderful football knowledge

I think this being the Rafa thread ....(just laying that down before its misconstrued )and seen as he does have a connection with Liverpool Football Club ....in the respect that he was connected greatly to this wonderful club ...who unlike  Mourinho (Who has his own thread regularly updated by his most ardent admirers )  who is not in anyway connected albeit from his stint as a ballboy on a certain  European night at Anfield ....  Ok  Listen....... its not for me  to attempt to try to explain some posters fixation with a Portuguese fella and why some strange posters launch  desperate attempts at sharing his overcoat ..... however comforting they personally believe this mix of Armani aftershave and warm polyester would be  .... hey each to his own 
anyway I would like to say that I still believe Rafa will win the Champions League and Serie A   just to confirm my earlier predictions

I have already said that his european record (bar last season) was fantastic. However, I don't believe in sacrificing a league campaign for a cup one as let's be honest, a lot of luck is needed to win a cup (if sg hadn't scored in the last minute against the greeks we'd have been long gone).

Of course I'd have taken as much money as I could, but so did he. I am a money grabbing fecker but so is he. There is no way he would have been out of work for long. He actually made a PROFIT from his bosses wanting him to go away.

At the end of the day if they are all sad enough to get kicks out taking a pop at a former manager who won a European Cup then that's up to them.

I think "hatred" is a bit strong, I'd be surprised if anyone "hates" Rafa. Always seemed like a decent enough bloke to me, and apart from the last season did a fairly decent job as manager too. Not great, not legendary, not a hero, but decent. Some good buys, some bad buys, some good nights, some bad nights, two trophies in six seasons and a best effort in the league of 2nd, with a worse effort of 5th (I'm discounting the 7th of the final season). So all in all he did OK (apart from the last season). No need to "hate" him, but entirely legitimate to both question his iconic status, AND to think the time was right for a change (which it was).

Funnily enough (and I did think it was funny I just can't help it ) the Spurs game was very familiar. Bizarre press conferences, eyes well and truly taken off the ball and a set-up which wasn't genius. Followed of course by a lacklustre performance and a well deserved defeat.

What a pity.

I have to disagree about the iconic status thing. He won the biggest trophey in club football in one of the most memorable finals in the history of the competition.

His tactical nous helped us get through some tough teams that year, former finalists and semi finalists, and not just that year either. Ok during his time we didn't have as much success in the league as we did in Europe but at least we were there mixing it up with the top teams midweek to the point where we were one of the most feared teams in Europe.

I don't know about you Mick but I treasure a lot of memories from those years, beating Barca in the Camp Nou, thrashing Real, knocking out Chelsea on more than 1 occasion when they were virtually buying their way to silverware. To me he will always be an icon and you know damn well there are plenty of other supporters that feel the same way even if you don't.

As for the celebrating after last night I think it's a bit of a disgrace tbh. I suppose it just goes to show how right we were all along this season that you felt the need to let loose 1 evening as youve been hiding under a owl shaped rock for the last few months.

He has burnt his own bridges thanks to showing a lack of respect and general common sense. Fans are not stupid mate, they will back him to the hilt but you need to give them back something too. He hasn't done that. It's not his fault he isn't cut out for the job.
