wait there, first you credit him with having the best team then you seem to imply that he won't win the league

I'm confused - do you think he'll win the title?

No.

Would you bet on it?  :D

They will win it Mick - there is nobody to challenge them and i hope they do. Id like to see Rafa do well out there. I was right behind him for 4 and a half years on till this day when i wanted a change. But the man give me the best night of mt life football wise and i will always owe him that

Your disapointment in him detracts you from the fact you "think " you proved yourself right? It's borderline hatred....I'd sooner have Rafa than Roy.Rafa had more style, could at times get players playing well...Roy seems a waste of space, all chins down and no way up,sits in the stand rubbing his head like a schizophrenic and makes subs at 85 mins<hes out of his depth at too big of a club!

To be totally honest, I really hope he wins feck all. I know he's already won the Charito di shieldoso (Italian Charity Shield) and the Pre Seasonario Insignificanto which is some other thing, but I think in the interests of OUR club the worst thing that could happen is that he is very successful (ie wins the Champions League). If he wins the title with a team which wins it every year it might not impact upon us, but if he does better than that it could be disasterous for us. Best thing which couldhappen is he totally and utterly bombs out.

Let me explain.

We are seeing at the moment what happens when a manager is elevated to cult status in quite the way Benitez was. The guy who follows him is given ni chance whatsoever, no respect whatsoever, and even though his results in the most imprtant competition almost exactly mirror the messiah, he is slagged to the rafters for it. Already people have forgotten what they watched for must of Benitez's reign, apparently we've never been so defensive as we are now and we are used to seeing free flowing football.

The ONLY thing IMHO which will make some of these people forget him is if he bombs out somewhere else like he did at Liverpool, then and only then can we move on.

THAT'S why I hope he wins feck all, for all our sakes.

I don't see how I was proven right, I was 100% behind him for four seasons Barry and I don't feel I was wrong then. It was only towards the end when I lost faith. You could do that (lose faith) with every manager in the history of football bar probably Ferguson and eventually you'd be "proven right" because they all get the sack in the end.

Being proven right has absolutely nothing to do with it. I was up for Roy being appointed, whether I'm "right" or not is irrelevent really, I just want the team to win. If he's wrong we should get shut of him, but you don't get on a managers back after five matches, even if he's absolute sh!t.

Cult status? He won us our 5th European cup...he stood WITH the fans while two yank ba,stards rotted our great establishment from within..and no one but him or the fans said anything about it!

It's not cult status it's history ya blind big idiot....Yes he made some bad signings, yes he made some silly team selections....BUT he stood with fans...The same fans that Roy is calling"people" and distancing himself from!

I really dont know why you think this guy will do anything for us...he has no balls,he picks Skrtel ahead of agger..plays too defensively even at home and every player looks like they have heads down!

He has done nothing to make me be glad that he is here,I would love to know why you seem to think he is the man for the job.....nice guy,gentleman.....seems to me this gentleman would take a yank di'ck right and handy as long as he is LFC manager and gets paid!

Not what we need LFC fans and manager should always be together.......Wrong turn roy!

Barry I've said a few times, Roy may well NOT be the right man for the job, none of us know yet. After six seasons it was definately right that we changed the manager (that or we changed all the players because they didn't want to play for him anymore), but whether we have chosen the right one in Hodgson remains to be seen.

I don't jump to Roys defence because I am 100% convinced he is the right man, I jump to his defence because I'd like to find out one way or the other, and he deserves his chance now he's got the job. Slagging him off after five league games is just absolutely ridiculous, made even more so by the fact that he is almost exactly mirroring our results from last season to this point.

And there you have it. Some of you lot are absolutely incapable of moving on. If Rafa is mega successful at Inter, you will NEVER give a manager at Liverpool any chance or support, regardless of who it is.

The best thing which could happen for all of us is if he completely bombs out.

The man is class in every respect (and that includes press conferences ) he deserves what's coming to him the man just instinctively knew what to say and the fans loved him for it ...he was more Scouse than some  people who were born and bred here
for the people and fans who just don't get him its simple move on ...for those that do cherish the times when he made us feel ten foot tall ...the times when we brushed aside with contempt the top sides in Europe....then stay and reminisce awhile about the days when Liverpool could attract the best managers in the game .... after all isn't the very  reason this thread was composed to eulogize with those who believe the same ..... Roy Hodgson is Liverpool's manager that statement is irrefutable but this thread isn't about him
