This thread is not about victories or defeats its as Nan said a couple of pages back ...its about being influenced enough by the obvious affinity he had with the fans to be interested in what happens next in his life, its about realizing that a connection with the people and fans of Liverpool does not come solely through results or cups won ,it comes through how you conduct yourself on and off the pitch how you ingratiate yourself with the fans .....Its about once having at your club one of the top 5 managers in European and world football ,it was also largely about the intense feeling you got from the man that he was behind our fight 100% and the importance he placed on it
In simple terms this thread regardless of what football matters get debated along the way ,will always prosper.... so for those determined to gloss over his legacy at Liverpool it may prove a tad difficult to actually enforce a spell of amnesia on the fans who have nights such as Istanbul 2005 etched deeply into their memories ..... the man who delivered no.5 will not be ushered into the shadows

Make no mistake Roy Hodgson is currently manager of Liverpool Football Club and will receive the support his efforts deserve.... but like I stated earlier .... this thread is not about him

We did reasonably well in the league though. We broke our PL points record twice.

Chelsea were backed by an ambitious billionaire that paid lots of money on building a strong squad. Utd and Arsenal had long term managers in place and had very strong squads.

Top 3 or 4 was realistically were we should of being finishing. (based on resources, price of squad etc).

A little more investment might have just pushed us over the line. Sadly, we're a million miles away now. Mainly due to the owners.

domestic cups aren't worth much any more.

The league and CL are what counts. His CL record was very good but our league performances were dismal - 1 challenge in all his years and finishing 7th.

I think his time here was a failure.

harah comments Niall, firstly you say its about the CL and league (Rafa won one of them remember) then you say his time here was a failure.

So every manager that fails to deliver the league is a failure then? its not about europe clearly
