Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Tue Oct 06, 2026 6:06 pm

This is a game, kind of the last day of the kop match against Norwuich, that will go down in footy folklore. If we lose this we wont be just letting ourselves down we'll be letting all the other clubs indeed the game itself down.

Kind of reminds me when Liecester sacked the tinkerman and everyone wanted us to smash them.

All depends if City will not give a ***** and be fired up or mentally shrewed.

Heard Gakpo and jaquet are doubt, blow for us as both were on good form.

Early days i know but the introduction of Ronnie and Jacquet into our back line has shored up our defence big time, statistically we've gone from one of the most profligate back 4's to one of the most frugal, it would be a big blow to lose Jacquet [and Cody] particularly going into this difficult run of fixtures. How we do in these games will probably go a long way to defining our season -

City         [H]
Brentford [A]
Brighton   [H]
Arsenal     [H]
Palace      [A]
Man U       [H]
Everton     [A]

In between all that lot we've got midweek CL games and a League Cup tie against Chelsea at Anfield between the Brighton and Arsenal games.

I think Haarlands a doubt for them though, we should get right after them, City are good but this isnt the City of prime Kevin De Bruyne, Yaya Toure, David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, Fernandinho et al.  They havent even got Rodri these days.

If Gakpo and Isak (as well as Etitike) are out then we're looking thin up top. Someone better get Chiesa out of the alehouse.

I wish we were not the first team to play them after they were found guilty of cheating. They will have “the world is against us” siege mentality and a real point to prove, I think they will be playing with adrenaline. I think they will eventually get worn down by the chants, boos and banners as the season goes on but it will take longer. I see them on Sunday really having a point to prove, they have been cooking for two weeks now.

We will really have to be at it for the whole match.

Typical of our luck that Isak and Gakpo are out but Haarland is available, personally I'd start with Koumas and tell him to give us everything for an hour, tell him to chase every lost cause and try to get the crowd involved.

Good time for Barcola to show up, they are not that good defensively and his speed should cause problems. Problem is we have three players that like to play left.

Yup my fear also, I think they'll use it as fuel and up their game even more. All eyes will be at Anfield on Sunday.
