Postby red till i die!! » Thu Dec 22, 2022 2:12 am

Well straight back into it we go with a tough game.  They will be missing a few and so will we but still expect a close game.

Knowing us we will go through on pens!!

Ben Doak. He's impressed every time he's played for the seniors. Sure he'll be on the bench with Jota and Diaz out and Kaide Gordon still not in the frame. Reckon the starting 11 will be similar to those that played the friendlies against Lyon and Milan but with Nunez included from the start and some other world cup players on the bench.

Well let’s just hope the second start to the season is better than the first !! Plenty of quality starting in both teams. Should be interesting. Milner and Gomez might find things a bit tough with Haaland up front. Should be interesting.

3-2 to City so far, entertaining game, were making a lot of mistake though.

Nunez has talent but his shots weren't even on target.

Compare the squads. We have kids in the form of Elliott and Carvalho. A 37 year old starting. Henderson who's no spring chicken either. Jota, Diaz out for who knows how long. Plus we have Gomez who sad to say is going backwards.
And they have who they had on the bench.

Didn't invest when we should have.

Feck the League Cup, and the FA Cup.

Top 4 has to be priority this year.

Knew it would be tough but thought we gave them a good game. I thought we could have won it if Nunez had his shooting boots on or at least got to pens. He's got to finish at least one of those chances.

Is he Andy Carroll in disguise? I mean, I get he's young. So is Haaland. So was Michael Owen and Fowler when they got their chance. For 85M should we just stop taking about potential and expect him to get a shot on target?

So far that I’ve seen of Nunez is if he has time to think he fecks it up, if he has to react instinctively then he does better. I think his mental strength is his weakness.

What you're saying is he's stupid. Most footballers are.

Every first team LFC players shot should be at least on target, we had every opportunity to win that game last night.

In parts a decent performance BUT overall a massive reminder that the team is in decline.

Defensively all over the place, can't believe how many times one and sometimes two City players were left free on the far post for a ball crossed into the box.
Love Robbo's determination and aggression but sometimes his situation awareness seems to have gone to sleep, would also add when it comes to opportunities for a strike on goal it seems  he still couldn't hit a cows ***** with a banjo .

Midfield ? where are they ? continually swamped and over run. Massive overhaul required.

Forwards ? To be fair, not our best lineup , but it's obvious that every team now has Salah's number and are nullifying his runs and continued attempts to cut inside for a left foot finish or a smart pass. Maybe a tactical rethink on his play is required ?

Nunez ?  Despite the fanfare that surrounded this fella's signing , I had my concerns. Wish  I could again find the stats I saw that prompted those concerns if only to help you lads understand where I'm coming from. . For what it's worth the outstanding stat was the amount of clear opportunities he had  to his  goals scored. The ratio was 5 to 1  :wwww  . On what we've seen so far , there's no surprise there.

We walk on. Not sorry to see us out of a domestic cup, it could prove to be a bonus. Priority this year has to be a Top 4 finish and as much progression as possible in the CL cup.
