Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Tue Oct 06, 2026 6:06 pm

This is a game, kind of the last day of the kop match against Norwuich, that will go down in footy folklore. If we lose this we wont be just letting ourselves down we'll be letting all the other clubs indeed the game itself down.

Kind of reminds me when Liecester sacked the tinkerman and everyone wanted us to smash them.

All depends if City will not give a ***** and be fired up or mentally shrewed.

Heard Gakpo and jaquet are doubt, blow for us as both were on good form.

Early days i know but the introduction of Ronnie and Jacquet into our back line has shored up our defence big time, statistically we've gone from one of the most profligate back 4's to one of the most frugal, it would be a big blow to lose Jacquet [and Cody] particularly going into this difficult run of fixtures. How we do in these games will probably go a long way to defining our season -

City         [H]
Brentford [A]
Brighton   [H]
Arsenal     [H]
Palace      [A]
Man U       [H]
Everton     [A]

In between all that lot we've got midweek CL games and a League Cup tie against Chelsea at Anfield between the Brighton and Arsenal games.

I think Haarlands a doubt for them though, we should get right after them, City are good but this isnt the City of prime Kevin De Bruyne, Yaya Toure, David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, Fernandinho et al.  They havent even got Rodri these days.

If Gakpo and Isak (as well as Etitike) are out then we're looking thin up top. Someone better get Chiesa out of the alehouse.

I wish we were not the first team to play them after they were found guilty of cheating. They will have “the world is against us” siege mentality and a real point to prove, I think they will be playing with adrenaline. I think they will eventually get worn down by the chants, boos and banners as the season goes on but it will take longer. I see them on Sunday really having a point to prove, they have been cooking for two weeks now.

We will really have to be at it for the whole match.

Typical of our luck that Isak and Gakpo are out but Haarland is available, personally I'd start with Koumas and tell him to give us everything for an hour, tell him to chase every lost cause and try to get the crowd involved.

Good time for Barcola to show up, they are not that good defensively and his speed should cause problems. Problem is we have three players that like to play left.

Yup my fear also, I think they'll use it as fuel and up their game even more. All eyes will be at Anfield on Sunday.

Yeah I'd go with Koumas too. He's intense if nothing else, presses well. I'd go with a front 3 of Barcola, Munoz and Koumas, though I wouldn't be surprised if Iraola opts with Wirtz as false no.9

I'd start with Dom at 10 [and Nyoni and Macca behind him], early doors it should all be about getting the crowd involved and the way to do that is work our ***** off chase every lost cause and get in their faces. When the game settles down and the likes of Koumas start to tire then we can bring the likes of Flo, Grav etc on.

The crowd will be fired up so will be fully behind the team. With Gakpo and Isak out we will have our work cut out to get a winning result. A draw might not be a bad result for us tbh.

Not sure about filling the team with kids though. Everyone likes Koumas for his die hard attitude but hes miles off it ability wise. Munoz is older and still struggling with the intensity and physicality. Barcola just told everyone hes struggling with the same but we paid good money for these lads so they need to step up. Im a massive fan of Nyoni but dont want to see him starting this either against a midfield with Enzo and Anderson in it. Bring them on late if needs be but time for the other lads to step into the limelight and lead by example. Grav, Dom and Macca need to step the eff up. Barcola and Wirtz need to show why we paid big money for them. Can't be expecting academy players to bale us out in one of the biggest games of the league calender.

                           Ali.

  Aruajo.        JJ.       VVD.       Kerkhez.

                 Grav.      Mac

                        Szob.

Munoz.            Wirtz.          Barcola.

Frimpong for munoz,  Rio for Barcola, koumas or Danns for Wirtz and Nyoni for Grav. Those are options for late on but the senior lads need to show up here.

Dont know what to expect result wise. Head is saying a draw but hoping we pull off a win.  :buttrock
