Looking increasingly like Iraola will get the job.
I'm torn on this. Are we settling for the Aldi middle aisle offer? Should we aim higher? Who realistically is out there right now? And don't tell me Enrique would swap a side destined for years of domination with a squad in serious transition.
If it is Iraola, VVD will suffer. As will Gomez. And Wirtz. Probably Isak and Macca too. And Gakpo.... That's half the first team who up until now have been lethargic, slow and for the most part not ar$ed. Under this fella, there are no passengers. And that will be a problem for quite a few.
We won't have a whole lot of money to spend is my expectation.
We need youth and energy. The underage teams don't seem to be a source right now, can't see anyone who might make the step up

Well we’ve reached a verbal agreement with him and an official announcement will come soon according to sky. As Bungle says, there will be a fair few players that will not handle his way of playing. I think Wirtz should do better though as I think Slot’s slow build up hurt him. I think he’d benefit from a pass and move style, more space to pass into and more space to run into. Gakpo will be doomed.

If Iraola implements a high demand pressing style then here's my take on it...

Players that will be OK
Wirtz - Like Kazza said, Slot's crab football stiffled him. He rips it up for German team so I expect he'll thrive under Iraola
Isak - should be ok. He'll be the last link in build up, up top ready to pop it in the net
Ekitike - he'll be fine
Sob - possibly used as a DM?
Leoni/Jaquet - young and mouldable
Gravenberch
Jones
Rio
Kerkez - played for Iraola at Bournmouth, he'll know whats coming

Players who will be doomed...

I agree not all players will be ideal for him but if he starts trying to play a style that does suit what we have then not much will change next season. He has to find a balance until more players suited to his plan arrive.

Not sure how it will pan out for him but I like the guy.

Williams was released about 2 weeks ago Reg. Bajcetic hasn't a hope either as he is a certified crock with Danns not far behind him. Both of them won't last a few weeks if Iraola is as hard on players as they say.  Using the academy might be the plan but we are tapping into players that are very inexperienced for the task ahead. I expect it will be the same as under Jurgen when he used big names 1st as long as they were even 50% fit.

Apparently he's only coming in on a 2yr deal by his own insistence. Reckons it's best for the Club and himself as they can re-evaluate after each season.
