Impressed with the hierarchy for showing some balls. Don’t feel sad to be fair.  Curious to know if this decision was made a while ago or something happened since the season ended.

Hope i'm wrong but he's got latest flavour of the month written all over him to me, like when  Potter went to Chelsea. Speaking of Chelsea why did we let Alonso sign for them if we knew we were getting rid of this fella..
With all due respect to the Bournemouth's of this world managing a club like this with our history and expectation and indeed culture is a completely different kettle of fish to managing a small club from a sleepy retirement town on the south coast.
Got to be Klopp for me, if not him then Emery seems the safest pair of hands.
Here's an idea from left-field, how about a sneaky bid for Guardiola, he's always seemed to have a lot of respect for us and has said some really nice things about Anfield in particular.

Guardiola? Are you on acid mate?
If it does turn out to be Iraola, it smacks of getting a manager in on the cheap. No disrespect to him by that.
Agreed they have a knack of finding quality players who work their a$$es off, because I think there won't be a whole lot of cash to spend on the summer. And a whole lot of the current squad, if they're still there in September, will be doing a whole lot more in pre season and in training than they did under Slot. And I think Iraola demands that. And I think the owners know the fans expect that.

I will say this also. I wanted Slot out. Really didn't like how we regressed under him.
That said, he won number 20. I'll be grateful to him for that, absolutely. And given the cards he was dealt and the injuries during the season, I will also give him credit for being so dignified. But. It was time to part ways

I did not expect this I must be honest. Grateful for what Slot achieved last season, but things got away from him this season. Best of luck to him.

That said, everyone available apart from Klopp won't be good enough IMO. It's probably gonna be Iraola, don't want to write him off before he even signs but we need a stronger character in the club, Iraola is too much of a gamble. Not too convinced by Alonso either but he was by far the best manager of the ones that were available.

It had to be done and now we can move on. Loads making out it's harsh seeing as he won the league but since that he has fully implemented his own style and therein lies the issue. Everyone could see it wasn't working including the players and that left the club with no option. We couldn't start next season like that. Thanks for the title Arne and best of luck!!

Iraola is a gamble but he has some things going for him like plays good attacking football, has league XP and seems to take no nonsense. Everything Slot wasn't bit still a gamble in terms of dealing with a big clubs expectations. I'd take him over the German lad at Al Hilal anyday but my 1st choice was always Unai Emery.

At least it gives us something to look forward to now. Don't think I could conjure up any enthusiasm if Slot stayed tbh.

Don't think he had the dressing room Mate. All them that liked the Salah post raised serious eyebrows among the board and forced them to act. There has been rumblings since early season that players weren't happy and as it progressed you could see they weren't playing for him.

All eyes on Salah now to see what he says  He better not be staying now!!

As i said Iroala has just got Potter, Andre Villas-Boas, ETH, next-flavour-of-the-month written all over him to me, yes he's done a great job at Bournemouth but loads of managers have done great jobs at clubs further down the league over the years including the likes of Roy Hodgson and David Moyes. How many of these types big clubs occasionally take a punt on actually go on to succeed.
I think management is like horse racing there's horses for courses and i think to manage a big club and control a dressing room full of top players with big ego's and to win things consistently you need a certain type of character and manager.
For me it's Klopp, if not him i'd go for Guardiola and i'm not joking, i've seen interviews with him where he's on spanish television telling a studio full of spanish people that he's never been to another stadium anywhere in the world like Anfield. Obviously any time he's turned up with City our fans have been well fired up meeting the team coaches on Anny Road or Arkles Lane with flags, scarves, red flares and smoke bombs etc so he's probably got a distorted view of things, he probably thinks Anfield is like that when Leyton Orient rock up in the cup but he was waxing lyrical about the place. He also says we are the greatest rivals he's ever faced in his career including Madrid. There's clearly a lot of respect there. Hand on heart i dont think he'd come to us, he looks fed up of footy at the moment to me, i suspect the 115 chargers and all that has a lot to do with that. Surely though its worth at least asking the question.
If not Jurgen or Pep i'd go for Emery, he doesnt inspire me but the fella clearly knows his trade and has done reasonably well where ever he's been. He'd at least be a safe pair of hands.

Absolutely delighted that Humpty fking Dumpty has been shown the door. Unlike some I don't thank him for anything and that  includes winning the prem in his first season, I still contend he did very little to merit any credit for that success,  it was the team itself, still imbibed with Jurgens years of  influence, that drove us to the title.Leading up to and post that title win Slott gradually sucked out everything that Jurgen had instilled into the team, as a result this past season has been nothing short of humbling.

As for Ireola ? Can't say I'm excited but for me anything is better than Slott. Disappointed we didn't try for a manager Danny Murphy mentioned the other day, Luis Enrique PSG manager, Murphy reckoned Enrique could possibly fancy the challenge of managing in the premiership as opposed to remaining in the far less competitive french league.

I get where your coming from Mate as Bournemouth are a well run club and seem to transition through managers along with losing top players quite well. What i will say about Araola is that under him you could see them on an upward trajectory. They where playing some good stuff and the fans are gutted he's left. Handling the expectation and pressure here will be a big challenge for him if he gets it.

Realistically Klopp isn't an option and he seems quite happy what he's doing now. Although Guardiola has spoken about us many times in a great way I t would be hard to see him taking this job or us offering it tbh. Slot had a small squad and even now Konate left the talk is not bringing anyone in as it will block Jaquet and Leoni's path to 1st team. Guardiola ain't putting up with that messing and will want a team ready to compete. When those charges finally hit he isnt going to want to be anywhere near the English media!

If we where willing to back Emery id say we would get him. He has no other reason to leave Villa otherwise. I'd class him as having that respect as a manager. They dont have to be bestie's with the players but the players need to know who the boss is and do the job he asks. Out of the younger managers in the game i think Araola has a bit more about him than most.

The board need to smarten up as well and take a different approach to what they are doing. Like Klopp Araola will burn through players due to the high intensity.  We need at the minimum to replace whats left this season and I doubt we will be spending big. FSG will be thinking of next year when a lot of players are out of contract and the work they will have to do then. The manager will have to go along with that or he won't be getting the job.

Bournemouth are a small club, they've been in the prem a few years but even the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City tower over them as institutions. The amount of times over the years i've seen a manager look like he's the second coming of Bob Paisley or Alex Ferguson only to disappear into obscurity must run into the hundreds as well, it wasnt that long ago Brendan Rodgers and Roberto Martinez were being hailed as visionaries and miracle workers for the football they had Swansea playing.
The wrong appointment here and we could be off down the same path United went on after Ferguson. Arsenal are 1-0 up at HT too, PSG havent turned up, Arsenal are going to win the double here just to make this sh.itshow of a season even worse.

Well that was a shock to the system, I fully expected Slot to be here next season. Anyhow I thank him for No 20, but it was evident enough that he needed to go. Injuries aside there was no way philosophy, we became one of the easier teams to
play against. Personally I want Klopp back, I'm not so sure about Iraola. Anyhow at least we got rid of Slot so new manager can come in have a pre-season instead of us doing this in Oct/Nov.

I like Emery but I don't think he has it in him to take teams at the top level. He does try to break into the mold but just not enough to get at the top and compete. I know it wouldn't happen but I'd love Enrique, his style of play is exactly what we need.

I’m not really excited about any manager except Enrique as he plays that front foot heavy metal football we came to love under Klopp, it’s hard not to like watching them play. You need the right players for that style though and do we have them? Also this notion that he would want a new project seems fanciful, why would he leave that team?

If it is player revolt that cost Slot his job then I think that is worrying and mirrors what has been happening at ManUre and Chelsea. Players play well, then down tools because they don’t like the manager for whatever reason, new manager comes in and they start playing well again then they don’t like him for whatever reason and down tools again. Last thing in the world is to give players power as players have their own agendas and don’t  prioritize the team first. Players become entitled and toxic if you listen to them. Managers are like parents and players are like 12-14 year old kids, some are reasonable but most are brats and the last people you want to listen to as basically they are idiots.

Ultimately I think Slot deserved another year as he won us a title his first year and had a lot of bad luck his second year but still managed a CL place, listening to many on here we would get relegated had he stayed all season. I didn’t like the brand of football this year but it was the players that underperformed, I couldn’t really blame Slot for the fact our leaders had disappeared, they had a responsibility to the team whether they were happy with the manager or not. If it turns out it was a player revolt and they underplayed this year I’d have a hard time forgetting it.

This new world of social media and algorithms means managers will get turned on much quicker now, I’m not sure that is a good thing. Instagram was an awash with negative memes, if you see it enough it changes your opinion and many times it’s baseless. We would hear that Slot kept traveling back to Holland to see his family as they didn’t join him and the team only trained 3-4 times a week. A rumor that some fans started spreading which if true would have been shocking. I had to research this to know if it was true and it wasn’t. It was his family mostly that travelled to see him. It makes me feel bad for him as he was sacrificing more than most to be a Liverpool manager and the fans turned on him.Whether we liked his football or not, the man was decent and we are Liverpool supporters, what happened to the “Liverpool” supporter? We used to stand for something bigger than football and what differentiated us from other supporters.

The whole club under performed this year but it was only the manager that got sacked, ultimately he is responsible but it leaves me with a lot of lingering doubts about the player’s motivation. Salah talking about being thrown under the bus while he’s on 400k per week and he was stinking the place up and not even showing desire to get balls he had lost back, what bus is that Mo? Some fans turned on Slot because he kept playing you and should have dropped you sooner. Then he has the balls to talk about going back to heavy metal football. My ultimate fear after Klopp left was losing continuity and so far it looks like it’ll be realized unless we can pull a rabbit out of a hat this time, seems unlikely.

I agree with many of your points Kazza. Whilst the manager takes responsibility for the performance and tactics of the team, some of the individual performances have been way below par this season: Macallister, Gravenberch, Gakpo, Kerkez, Frimpong, Mo, Wirtz, Konate... jeez!! I assume there is also a communication failure between staff and palyers which is equally VVD's fault as captain, but half the above players must be on final warnings.

That said, FSG as gracious as ever waiting a week for everyone to cool off before pulling the plug. Sadly he wasn’t good enough. Let’s wait and see what happens but it’s a massive task to overhaul a squad with a new manager but that comes with the job.

The players though must share some of the blame and I don't buy into the Diogo Jota mega grief, we've all lost parents, friends and loved ones and had to face up to it and work your way through it.

A bad season and imperative we bounce straight back.
