I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt and putting it down to the fact our full backs were missing - without them we struggle to create anything and get penned into our box. It happened against Southampton too.

Unfortunately, Rodgers got his playing selection wrong.

If Rodger's was so keen to continue using the same formation, why on earth did Moses not start on the right wing ahead of Flanagan is beyond all of us!
Sterling (ahead of Coutinho's recovery) should have, at least, been used on the left wing ahead of the useless Cissokpuppet.

you can see why he did it though, especially after last weeks performance against a decent side like west brom.
he was unlucky that johnson had to go to hospital ill just before the game and it shows just how much kelly is struggling to recover from his cruciate injury that the manager opted for flanno.
apart from that though that was basically the side that put in our best performance of the season (by a mile) just 7 days ago.

That system was just waiting to be undone (especially against a good side like them), I would have canned it while the going was good, I mean Cissoko and Flanno as wing backs fck me. 

the battle wasnt lost there though, it wasnt as if arsenal had a couple of tricky wingers that tore us to bits or if they were throwing cross after cross in.
they just passed their way through the center of our midfield.
johnson and enrique arent available so there`s not much more rodgers could have done.

Again you don't get it. You think that because their wide play didn't involve a winger skinning and crossing into the box that means that isn't where we lost it. The gaps in the midfield arose from a lack of width from our midfield, we had three covering right across the midfield instead of five or even four. When one midfielder got pulled wide or pressed high it left two on three in our midfield which is the reason we got over run.

Tactically the performance was completely inept. Add that to alot of players simply failing to turn up and you're never going to get a result.

gerrard just let cazorla run off him for the first goal and just ambled back like he didnt give a f##k, lucas did the same thing when he lost the ball at the halfway line in the first half but somehow our outnumbered defence managed to scramble it away.
tactics mean nothing if you have players who just spend the game practically standing around with their hands in their pockets, toure made more forward runs than gerrard on saturday and he`s a CB!

Both Gerrard and Lucas struggled with the movement of players like Cazorla and Ramsey but even the CB 'a struggled to pick up the runners coming into the box. Cazorla just waltzed past everyone and then was the first to react. It really was a very poor performance from the midfield.

They seemed to counter attack after the first goal, had the disallowed goal stood and Johnson played it would have been a different game altogether. They were a little bit better than us but not much, I think the score flattered them.

Wasn't too sure what thread to post this in... but I think its been very beneficial to us how under the radar we've been. 
Everyone is talking about the other clubs.  Do Arsenal have the mentality to challenge for the title? 
The 2nd coming of Mourinho and whether he can repeat his previous success with Chelsea.
Pellegrini at City, they look like world beaters one week and then lose to the bottom clubs the next.
Moyes at the Mancs.
The great starts for Everton and Southampton who weren't expected to do much. 
All the money Spurs spent this summer and their new signings.

We lie 2 points off the top of the table after almost a third of the season and there has hardly been any mention of us. 
Thats a good thing I think.  During the summer we were just a team that had finished 7th, lost our GK and looked set to lose our top player.

My thoughts are focus on the original objectives for this season, and that's into at least 4th spot (champions league).

Any over-achievements made by the club would be for an interesting discussion for that time. Stay nicely under the radar and keeping heads down & plan each game as it comes. I'm sure that's what BR will be telling the team.

Well done Brendan 

His ideas, philosophy, work ethic and integrity are what this club stand for.  On and off the pitch you can see there is a real togetherness from John W. Henry  right the way through to the dressing room.  This is what this club is all about.  (IMO has been lacking since 2008/09)

He's got rid of all the deadwood from previous regimes and brought in some top players, in the likes of Coutinho & Sturridge. Wasn't afraid to let the likes of Pepe Reina go & stood firm in the Suarez transfer saga. As well as bringing the best out of Henderson & Skrtel (in recent months)

After Hillsborough & all the Sh*t this club has been wrongfully dragged through for the past 24 years this club is going back to the top where it belongs.

Well done to everyone involved with Liverpool Football Club. You are what makes this club the most unique club in the world.

He's signed a few of donkeys in Aspas, Borini and Allen for a bucket load of money, so a little balance is needed here...
All in all though, I am happy with progress overall.

No club ever gets everything right in the transfer market. Having said that we have made some incredible fk ups over the last 5/6 years. It needs to change and quick starting in January. Strength in depth is a massive problem and it needs sorting. We just about have 12 first team players that can do a reasonable job. Couple of injuries and were in serious trouble especially up front.

rodgers dealings in the market have been less than impressive. in fact they have been poor. over 80mil on 15 players from which less than a handful have been good enough. the fact that we had literally zero competition for any of his signings is an indication of how highly rated they are.
granted he hasnt spent 20+ on any of them but he has paid over the odds. his 3 most expensive have been borini, allen and sakho and in truth you could take or leave either of them.
yes we have had a poor run of signings in the last 5-6 years due to the constant change in manager but has rodgers really been any better with the money ?. not in my book he hasnt. its all about opinion and mine is that he has sent better on loan this season than most of what he signed. its the quality of the squad he inherited that has us where we are now not his shrewdness or an eye for talent.

Difficult to argue against any of that, although I would say he has utilised the talent at his disposal in a better way that our previous two managers.

I think Sakho is a good addition and feel Allen will come good too.  However, Borini hasn't worked out and he's now stuck on the bench at Sunderland, which says it all really...
