Brendan Rodgers thread (signs extended contract)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Absolutely fantastic start to the season.  3 wins, 3 clean sheets, 9 points, through in the Carling Cup and 3 new arrivals by the looks of it.
The one thing I like about Rodgers is that he's had a vision from day 1 and he seems to base everything around that vision.
He wants to pass and keep the ball in a certain formation and he signs players that will fit his philosophy.

When Roy was in charge there didn't seem to be any sort of vision.  It was just 2 banks of 4 and desperate football being played.
Even Kenny had a winning formula and then it was ripped up when we started signing over priced English players.

My one concern now is that we haven't really kept the ball and played the nice football we are capable of for 90 minutes.
Early on though, the points are more important than the performances.

Still trying not to get too carried away.

I really like what Brendan is doing at the club. The team is playing some decent footy and creating lots of chances.

And the big difference so far this season is the never say die attitude of the team. Brendan talked quiet a lot last season about trying to get the mentality right and since the opening day against Stoke the team are showing signs that the mentality is in the right place. We probably would have surrendered the lead in all 3 games last season, so I am really pleased that the team are showing some grit this early in the season.

Last season we played very well in the second half after starting games poorly - so far we have started really well but the level drops in the second half - it seems because the players energy levels drop. Needs to find the balance between the two. Two players have made it a great start - need to supplement those players . Think we have done at the back - Mignolet is doing well and think Sakho will be a good addition and Ilori will be one for the future. The midfield seems to be a weak link and the forward line at the moment is being held up by Sturridge. Not impressed by our arrivals in both those areas. Hopefully one more can arrive before the end of the day

Are you going to reply to every single post I make with "whatever" ? Is it really worth it and adds nothing to any thread.

TBF SOME of this is fair criticism, we could easily have been punished in any of the three league games so far, fortunately we haven't but that's the reality but that's football and sometimes you ride your luck. I do think fitness or something needs to be addressed so we can keep the same intensity over 90 minutes - second halves are becoming quite distressing  :D

That said there's still some harsh criticism there, two players have made it a great start is a bit disrespecful to everyone else in the side. I think Hendo and Lucas have been great, and Studge was brilliant yesterday at holding up play and getting others involved, only thing for him is to learn when to pass or shoot

Praising Ming tho, must have hurt to click 'post'  :D

The two players are Sturridge and Mignolet - they have made the difference between an ok start and a great start. Henderson has done very well also and Lucas has done a lot of good work.

Yesterday wasn't down to Sturridge or Ming, it was application and togetherness that saw us through that. Not two players, 10 and a half were involved (Aspas, I'm looking at you  :D )

Sturridge got that all important goal - same as the three previous games. He is immense at the moment

He is on top form for sure. Long may it continue and as long as he can keep fit I don't see no reason why he wouldn't.

  as if your posts add anything... I know exactly just by looking at the thread summary what you must have said, if I see your name as the last post...

Most of your posts justifies this response... "whatever benny"
