Brendan Rodgers thread (signs extended contract)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

that's where the biggest cost savings were for him though as we have been thick in the midfield area for seasons. Clearly his priority has been stated to reduce costs and he has shipped a lot of people on. A lot of our midfield went, so it's logical that he has to backfill there too.

Because Damiao is a clinical striker and right now we only have ONE striker who is clinical enough and he can be injury prone(Sturridge) and Suarez, there is still a chance he could be gone by 2nd Sept. Willian is more of a left winger and we have enough good players who can play in that role, guys like Assaidi, Coutinho, Sterling and Ibe. If we are to get a wing man, it would be a right winger to replace Downing.

Spurs is helping to make Brendan's record looking good by snatching Dempsey & Sigurdsson away from us last season, so not sure if its a blessing that they have taken Willian, only time will tell...I guessed with the pending sale of Bale, Spurs are starting to flex their financial muscle in the transfer market?

That's the problem I have mate - in a business the first priority is cutting costs to maximise profits

In football the first priority should always be to be successful and to do what it takes to achieve success

So we've missed out on Willian and also the backup Damiao who said he was happy at Internacional. What I want to say to 'Moron' Ayre and FSG, "You are useless bugg#rs and get out of the club the sooner the better before you do more damage". They are just like accountants who want to make our accounting statements look good.

looks visibly and understandably more downbeat than usual in his press conference and who could blame him?

Last year he said he'd be stupid to get rid of Carroll and not bring in a replacement.  We got rid and didn't replace.
This year he said he'd improved the squad and was now looking to add to the first 11.  Its not really happened yet.

Im sure the guy is secretly fuming.

He's said in his own words 'we will be adding to the XI before september 2nd'
Why can't people accept this?

Yeah, it's kinda obvious Rodgers are doing an ok job, but he isn't totally in control.
I blame him for Borini and Allen though, but not much else.

Because BR has said things that haven't matched the actions in the past 12 months.

"It’s disappointing because this was a player who would have been perfect for us"

This quote alone should be the ice cold shower the delusion squad on this forum need to have.

If he is perfect for us, there should be NO ifs or buts stopping us from buying them.  :no

It was the owners themselves saying if the right player was available they would do everything to sign them.

Actions speak louder than words.

All other English clubs pale into insignificance!"

So because he is a perfect fit it means money should not be an object?

You surely realise how stupid you sound right?

Also quite frankly a player who agrees personal terms and passes a medical, only to decide he is considering his options as soon as Chelsea come in is NOT the type of mercenary Liverpool FC want.

We have always been about signing players who WANT to play for us.

I feel sorry for Rodgers.

“It’s the owners’ money and they will always have the final say because it’s they who run the club. The bottom line is he hasn’t come here.

That's Rodgers letting the fan base know that this failing deal isn't his fault and he's clearly letting it be known who made the call on this deal.

“If you’re going to climb the league, you have to have quality.

I think he wants best for the team. He's not, or shouldn't be FSG's scapegoat, I believe he shares the same vision as the fans do, not sure about the owners though.  :suspect:
