Kenny should leave. He has done what is required of him, that is to unite the fans and the owners and the players too.
But he is no longer astute enough to bring Liverpool to another level that is required. Maybe the problem is not him, maybe it is far more ingrained.
Liverpool has been playing "backward" football since Rafa's time. The incessant one touch no dribbling, attack with the players back facing the opponent goal strategy has been around for over a decade. The owners and fans in particular need to ask difficult questions rather than just burying their head in the sand and expect miracle with the least amount of changes to the club management. Painful changes need to happen now. Instead of saying, give the manager and the coaching staff more time. Let's unite and give the owner more time to do what is "perceived" to be painful for the fans. The fiasco with Roy is that certain segment of "REAL" fan base refused to accept him. And it affected the players and the whole situation went downhill for the club. These so called "REAL" fans value themselves and their opinions more than the club. They don't care, they want to feel important, feel needed, feel that they are making decisions for the club no matter how wrong they are. I believe Roy can't do much worst if he got the same kind of initial support Kenny received. And I stand with that opinion. Give the manager more time (5 years maybe)... unless he is Roy seems to be the calling for these fans.
The biggest problem for me is to decide whether making Kenny go will help Liverpool improve. The thing is like new players, I can really see how the new players can have an impact to the team. I still remain unconvinced of Lucas. I feel he is nothing special. Maybe he is good to this Liverpool team but you can tell he will never make it at Man Utd, ManCity, Tothenham or Arsenal. It is just Liverpool that Lucas appear to be massive. He is massive in a team that is not going to be challenging for top four. Those who blamed our current predicament to Lucas being injured are deluding themselves. Liverpool has been in many years failed to produce any good players. Whereas other teams has been hammering our top class players. It has nothing to do with luck. It has nothing to do with money (Arsenal hardly spend any) and has nothing to do with league position as shown by Newcastle. It is the team in Liverpool that oversees the academy and the club that has failed miserably. And for Kenny's performance thus far, I cannot really see how Liverpool can prosper and improve from where we are today. By the end of the season, we could be in 9th -10th position in the league. It pains me so much to say that it will take almost another 5-10 years before we can go up again. So let's start rebuilding now.. really rebuilding instead of patching the club. Do a complete wholesale change from the management down. It cannot be far worst from what we are going though. As the Chinese proverb says, Short pain is better than long pain. Get the right manager with decent performance and is known to be good at rebuilding teams. After all nobody heard of Arsene Wenger before he joins Arsenal. Look for qualities like able to spot a gem, able to get a team of just decent players and make them massive. Have a believe that attack is the best form of defense and loves the team playing beautiful football. The manager should be able to spend peanuts yet able to reach top 6. After reaching top 6 then a second wave of rebuilding will come about. You can hardly find world class players willing to play for a mid table Liverpool anymore, reaching top 6 will help to spark a second coming...
The fans need to buy this concept of rebuilding. Slow, painful but necessary rebuilding. There are so many little known managers in EPL that fits the bill. But the fans need to accept the assignment without question and prejudice. Only then can the new manager able to pull a rabbit out of the hat. Do not let what happened to Roy ever to repeat again... NEVER if Liverpool is to be challenging for top four.
So why isn't Kenny be allowed to rebuild? Because he is not the messiah that we want him to be. Let's not hit our head on the wall especially we know the wall is there and is harder than the head. Kenny performance is not what all of us are expecting. It has no hallmark that it will be better. In fact failure is written all over it. He is also not the manager our owner's have in mind. The fans demanded that he become Liverpool's manager. The fans won, but Liverpool lost.
The new manager must fulfilled that stringent but necessary requirements. Then he could be the messiah unfortunately he may not be who the manager "REAL" fans want. That is the core of the problem.. the "REAL"fans.. They think they have the right to destroy the club with their good intentions.
