Put those 2 players into the team and it looks a lot better. He's spent a lot, some like Carroll and Hendo I think will turn out good. Unsure on Downing but I think Adam should be sold as I don't think he's going to cut it.

You dont like Downing, and want us to bring in replacements for Carroll and Henderson. In essence what you're saying is that you want the board to give Kenny more money to spend because our 80+ million trio of signings are only good enough to warm the bench. It's absurd just thinking about the fact that a club that can't even make the top4 would have 3 players they bought recently for over 80million sitting on the bench. I don't see us spending big yet again, especially not with Kenny in charge. We'll probably get around 10-20mill plus whatever we make from player sales (which won't be much).

The time to get it right was last summer. We failed to do so, and now we have to suffer the consequences. On a side note, I agree that we need a finisher and a decent option out wide. We could also do with another good CB but again, will we have the balls to sell some of our new players for 50% or less of what we paid for them ?

i think this thread is just a microcosim of what this club has become, the time arrives to to circle the wagons and some fans put the boot in, kenny dalglish has been to more liverpool fans funerals in one day than most of these whoppers have been to games in their entire life and yet they casually talk about changing the manager like they are changing a pair of socks. they arent prepared to stick by anyone through thick and thin, they dont want to turn their collars up and walk through any storms, their two mates ben and justin support manchester united and they`ve had it up to here with their sly comments, f##k this wind and rain sh*t, i mean, who does dalglish think he is? doesnt he care or something?
what made this club different to other clubs was how we reacted in the bad times, in the past if someone scored at anfield they got applauded, arsenal won the title with seconds left on the clock in the most emotionally draining season any sporting club or franchise will ever have to endure, you couldnt lose a trophy in a worse way even if the devil sat down and planned it, but what happened? even though their hearts were broken, their spirits were broken and in 1989 liverpool fans felt the world itself was broken they applauded arsenal off the pitch. in the 70`s our biggest rivals were united but not manchester united they were leeds united, there was a lot of animosity between the two clubs and when leeds clinched the title with a draw at anfield it was like man united clinching the title these days, the leeds players themselves were hated right throughout the country, they were 11 gary nevilles because of their overly physical style of play and when bill shankly went to the leeds captain billy bremner and told him to go and show the trophy to the kop he thought shankly was joking, shankly wasnt joking, bremner then refused to do it, this was in the days before barriers and he thought the liverpool fans would think he was taking the p1$$, eventually shankly persuaded him and the player once described as 10 stone of barbed wire later admitted he was shaking in fear as he approached the 26,000 dockers, bricklayers and carters standing on the kop, the whole ground applauded. the likes of the arsenal players and the leeds players have talked about how they have actually cried when thinking about what happened to them at anfield, liverpool gained a reputation as a club that threw everything at  you, the kitchen sink the f***king lot, when liverpool lost they went out on their shields, they fought tooth and nail for everything, but when the smoke and the dust had cleared the fans always showed they had class.
kenny dalglish has been there for this club in our darkest hours, he`s sat in press conferences and had to deal with questions from reporters who usually are found in the worlds trouble spots or outside the houses of parliament or the kremlin, he`s walked through a sea of flowers at the kop end with 2 teddy bears in his hand to lay in the kop goalmouth, he`s told the editor of the sun where to go on the phone, all of us have inherited this great club from the generations that went before us, they set out the blueprint of how we should act, to turn our backs on one of the greatest figures in this clubs history would be a stain on this club for the rest of time, bad times come around in football just like they come around in life, you cant avoid them, it`s how you deal with them that counts.

Oh for heavens sake, it's not about how nice a guy Kenny is, I'm sure he's a fantastic guy. What is questionable is his ability as a manager, and after coming out with the ***** that the players were tired??? his integrity is completely shot to pieces. We are now is serious danger of plummeting down the league and ending up in 12-13th place which I'm sure you'll agree is not good enough after the massive outlays in the summer.

I still say he needs to be given time to get things right. Clubs that chop and change manager are not geneally successful (unless they have access to a massive cheque book and even then its debateable).

Lets look at whiskey nose for the perfect example - first three and a half seasons (which is a good comparison for kennys half year and three year contract) the mancs finished 11th, 2nd, 11th and 13th with one fa cup. They stuck with him and unfortunately we all know what happened next.

FFS heimdall, he didn't mean that we should back Kenny Dalglish because he is a fantastic guy, he meant we should back him because we as Liverpool supporters should show patience and time to our managers, its what we are supposed to do and not into the "sack the manager" bandwagon

he won 3 titles in 5 season`s in his first spell here and was seconds away from 4 in 5, he`s one of only a handfull of managers to win the title with 2 different clubs....he can manage.
alex ferguson finished halfway down the league with united 2 seasons running (and i mean halfway down the league) and before you say thats because the side he inherited was $h1te in his first season at united ferguson finished 2nd, i can imagine united at that time had fans like you saying `ffs he is taking us backwards, he spends big money and a team that finished 2nd ends up finishing 11th and 13th!`
unfortunately for us the united board didnt listen to their whopper fans who think everything in football works in a smooth upward curve.
if you cant get yourself to back someone like dalglish through a rough patch then whoever is in charge doesnt stand a chance with fans like you, he inherited a squad that has already cost 2 managers their jobs and sorting out that losing mentality takes longer than a year. back in the day united had good players, infact when they played us in head to head matches back then they more often than not got the better of us, but like us now they`d throw the towel in mentally when things started to go wrong and like us now united often got beat by sides they should have beaten comfortably. what ferguson did was actually get rid of some good players, united fans couldnt believe it, the players ferguson was moving out were the backbone of the side in their eyes but ferguson knew that they were good players not winners.
we have got the same problem here, some of the players who we think are the first names on the teamsheet are good players but not mentally strong enough to cope when the going gets tough, they threw in the towel at the end of benitez`s reign, they didnt even get going under hodgson and once the pressure came on with dalglish in charge they`ve collapsed again.
changing the manager again just lets the players off the hook, lets someone else carry the can for them. well not this time, everyone knows kenny is a winner, he`s not a bottler, the ones that should leave the club are the ones who dont want to front up when the going gets tough, and as far as i`m concerned fans are included in that as well as players.

Sentimental utterings aside - changing the manager every season just isn't going to help us achieve stability and then progress onwards and upwards. Just ask Chelsea how a change in manager constantly has worked out for them, it hasn't really has it? Short-term thinking is not the answer to our problems.

Over the last two years we've endured a lot of changes at the club and haven't really had any sort of stability, stability is key because it allows you to build on its very foundations. How can a club build foundations for a successful future when it shows no signs of stability? Don't for one moment think that I am out-right defending Kenny, because Kenny has to take responsibility for our shortcomings in the league this season.

Kenny needs to sit down in the summer and assess this season and see where he went wrong, where he went right, what he needs to change and he needs to ensure that the glaring mistakes of this season are not repeated next season. If they are repeated then I'm afraid as much as I respect Kenny, I won't be able to defend his position as our manager. He needs to find out what his best 11 is and he needs to find out what his best formation and tactics are and he then needs to make the appropriate decisions in the transfer market as to who he'll sign and who he'll sell (if anyone). Playing the lone striker is something that I hate, I cannot stand it, especially seeing as Adam and Spearing are not creative, attacking center midfielders who'll put through balls through to the main striker constantly. Downing and Henderson have little or no end product to their play and that means someone like Suarez on his own will work, work, work and will not reap the rewards of such hardwork i.e. goals.

There's a lot for Dalglish to do, because he must improve, Liverpool must improve, no amount of domestic cups will alter the fact that this has been a disappointing season.

Downing and Henderson have little or no end product to their play and that means someone like Suarez on his own will work, work, work and will not reap the rewards of such hardwork i.e. goals.

There's a lot for Dalglish to do, because he must improve, Liverpool must improve, no amount of domestic cups will alter the fact that this has been a disappointing season.

agree with this.

My big gripe isn't the amount we spend on players, but the amount of players that come and go. How can we become stable if every transfer window we buy and sell more than someone playing a manager game on the computer. Of course we need the correct players as well, but the turnover at this club is a complete joke.

the lone striker thing is so bizarre it seems unreal, how the feck did that happen?

And why coates wasn't playing is beyond me.

The reason we have such a high player turn over is the small fact that we waste far too much money on average players or players who for whatever reason come to Liverpool, choke and never deliver and are shipped out at a later date. As you say it's disappointing, but it looks like we're going to need to sign more players in the summer.

As for the lone striker thing, I don't understand, I never have and never will understand it. Benitez got with it with Torres because he had Gerrard slotted in just behind him, Alonso, Mascherano in center midfield, one who pinged the ball around like pin ball machine and the other was a machine who used to charge upfield with the ball. We then had Kuyt on right and Riera on the left, both of whom love to get forward and both of whom have an end product, the same with Arbeloa and Auerlio, so Torres had all the support he needed, plus he could make things happen himself. Suarez doesn't have such luxury, he has Adam and Spearing in midfield, both of whom offer no attacking support, Henderson and Downing have little or no end product and our strikers are having to carve out chances for themselves. I'm shocked that given how we're set up that we've made so many chances against teams, it seems surreal, but what is perhaps even more surreal than that fact, is the fact that we are by far the most wasteful team in the league.

As for Coates not playing, well that's anyone's guess, but all I know is that Carragher is costing us matches and it's getting beyond the pale now. Martin Skrtel's consistent form has gone out of the window with the re-emergence of Jamie Carragher in central defence. We look weaker without Glen Johnson too.

The sooner Kenny and Clark go back to the drawing board the better.

After 15 months in the job, Kenny should know what his best 11 is...he should also know what his best formation is...he should have also drummed into the players our style. Yet none of this has happened. Now we’re in the situation where a large chunk of our supporters are unable to separate their support for Kenny as a manager, and their respect for him as a man. Let's be clear: No right thinking red is questioning Kenny’s love or dedication for our club. It’s unquestionable; he’s a Liverpool legend and the last remaining link to Shanks, Bob Paisley and Joe Fagan. He is, and always will be a living legend.

However, let’s take off the rose tainted specs off and look at the cold hard facts.

-Kenny has been out of top flight football for 12 years

-He was sacked from his last two jobs

It was no secret I was against appointing Kenny long term, because – in my view – the game has changed too much. We’re asking Kenny to catch up with a more than a decade of changeand he’s struggling. It’s my belief that Kenny’s struggle begun long ago, back in the mi-90s, because he’s making the same mistake at Liverpool that he made at Newcastle and Celtic. A lot of our fans want to pretend the Newcastle and Celtic stints never happened for Kenny, but they did andhistory is repeating with:

-Signing average players for huge sums of money

- Employing negative, predictable tactics.

-Struggling in the league, yet managing to perform well in the cups

People need to stop pretending it’s 1989 and look at Kenny’s record in the mi-90s. That’s the manager we have today...and that’s the problem.
“You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.”
