Is it me or is there something wrong this.

His price is so high due to him being English. (So its based on his Race and not what he can do)

That being the case a person finding it hard to do the job they wish due to their Race falls within the Race discrimination act.

Barry and Liverpool could fight this and have the price set for them.

You are having a laugh Lakes?

No i am not, i have just had to spend weeks doing discrimination law and if we are saying that we pay more for him as he is English then thats Due ti his race.
Any player that think his price is artificially high due to where they are born have a case.

I think you should continue spending more weeks doing discrimination law!

Its like saying the fact that house prices are more expensive in the south-east is discriminating buyers from the north. Just like houses the market climate sets the going rate for players, Barry included. Because there is so much foreign investment in the English game, native club commodities are being driven up, i.e. English players (and I would even go as far as saying British players).

Where's the discrimination? These values are being assigned to English players because clubs see local players as a high commodity. It is these players who drive fan support, obviously there are some exceptions but it is generally the home grown players who are supported more.

Buying a house will not come under the European employment law

it would if you used it as a brothel :D

I reckon if he arrives for 18m there will be a muted reception at best and certainly no celebration. Difficult start for a player.

Oh FFS Lakes let it go mate! :D

So now if a club dont want a footballer because hes 33 should he sue them for age discrimination?
Barry is a few years younger than Deco while his club are trying to keep him,Deco has been told he can leave so Barca can hardly hold a buyer to ransome can they?Thats why theres a difference in price!
Yes Barry has a couple of million extra on him because hes English and proven in our League...thats just the way the market is.
Anyway Villa wont get £18m for him and they know it they are just chancing their arm.

lol you do pick up on something there.
under the age discrimination act a player can no longer be told he will be sold/ let go/not used by a club due to his age.

the way things are going it will not belong before you get a player taking a club to court due to them being left out the team or being sold due to their age.

Newsflash...the English are not a race (and there's no strong biological basis for racial divisions anyway but that's another discussion...). :p

"Caucasian" is a race.

"Anglo-Saxon" is a ethnicity.

"English" is a nationality

"Manhattan" is a pedantic :censored:.

wrong.

racial discrimination
The 1976 Race Relations Act makes it unlawful for an employer to discriminate against you on racial grounds. Race includes:

colour
nationality
ethnic or national origins
Under the Act, it doesn't matter if the discrimination is done on purpose or not. What counts is whether (as a result of an employer's actions) you're treated unfavourably because of your race.

The Race Relations Act protects all racial groups, regardless of their race, colour, nationality, religious beliefs, national or ethnic origins.

or to make my point
colour (white)
nationality (English)
ethnic or national origins (British)

A "catch all" anti-discrimination law that stretches the notion of "race" to absurd levels.  Which is perfectly understandable, in a way, because race is merely a social construct that human societies have modified down the years to suit their needs.  Like Manhattan, Bad Bob, is a pedantic f.ucker as well!
