Its a fact we cant buy players like teves, trezeguet, torres etc. We dont have the money

this has been his best ever season and he only got 13 league goals, we need a player who can score at least 15+ league goals a year. He's a decent player but no what we need, his famous attitude and temperament dosnt exactly help either. Im sure we have enough money to buy a better quality striker than him.

here here, very well said.we will be sorry if we sign him,i know this for sure,we are liverpool we should not be even looking at this sort of nutter, whats going on???

I dont believe bellamy will be the main striker we buy this summer, i think we will sign bellamy and another striker who is more highly rated and has a more proven goalscoring record. I dont see bellamy being our number 1 striker next season

Liverpool and Blackburn agree £6m fee for Bellamy
By Matt Gatward
Published: 20 June 2006

Liverpool have been given permission to discuss personal terms with the Blackburn Rovers striker, Craig Bellamy, as the clubs have agreed on a fee of £6m.

That offer from Rafael Benitez's side has triggered a clause in Bellamy's contract allowing him to move to a club playing in the Champions' League.

However, the only sticking point is whether Bellamy can prove to Benitez that he will not be a problem to work with. The Wales striker is on his honeymoon at the moment but the Liverpool manager has requested a meeting with him upon his return so that he can assess his character. Bellamy has been no stranger to trouble during his career, falling out most publicly with his Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness and accusing him of lying.

Benitez is keen to find more firepower for his side as he tries to turn them into Premiership challengers and Bellamy fits the bill after an impressive season with Rovers in which he scored 17 times. The 25-year-old would add a cutting edge to a misfiring forward line which has already lost Fernando Morientes, sold to Valencia, from last season and Djibril Cissé who broke his leg just before the World Cup when he was set for an £8m move to Marseilles.

That loss of revenue has forced Liverpool to reject plans to try to sign Charlton Athletic's Darren Bent - who would have cost around £8m - and set their sights on Bellamy instead.

While Bellamy may be leaving Ewood Park, Steven Reid is staying, having signed a new four-year contract which will keep him at the club until 2010.

The Republic of Ireland international, 25, had been the subject of reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur but will now be part of Rovers' squad for next season, when they will play in the Uefa Cup.

Rovers offer Bellamy £65,000-a-week deal
By : Mark Ogden , 20/06/2006

Blackburn Rovers have offered to make Craig Bellamy the highest paid player in their history in an effort to fend off a £6.5 million bid from Liverpool. The striker's earnings would rise to £65,000 a week.

Manager Mark Hughes, encouraged by midfielder Steven Reid's decision yesterday to agree a new four-year deal at Ewood Park, wants a meeting with Bellamy to clarify his future after an inquiry from Liverpool last weekend. The Wales international tops Liverpool's list of transfer targets after netting 17 goals in 32 appearances for Blackburn last season.

BELLAMY'S SET TO QUIT OVER REDS
By Alan Nixon
LIVERPOOL have had a £6.5million offer for Craig Bellamy reluctantly accepted by Blackburn - and the striker is clear to complete his dream move.

Bellamy will now return from holiday to join the club he supported as a kid - less than a year after signing for big pal Mark Hughes.

In the past Anfield boss Rafa Benitez has been put off Bellamy by his character, but opted to sign the Welshman as other targets proved too costly.

Rafa will now sit down with Bellamy and ask tough questions of the volatile 25-year-old.

If he comes up with the right answers he will be offered a three or four-year contract.

Benitez will try to team him up with Dirk Kuyt as soon as possible. The Mirror understands Liverpool are close to a £10m deal for the Feyenoord ace, which will be completed as soon as Holland go out of the World Cup. But Rovers chief Hughes is devastated by the loss of Bellamy, who he talked into joining when bigger clubs, including Liverpool, snubbed him.

Cant say I am thrilled with signing Bellamy or Kuyt but on the bright side I was made up when we finally got Cisse and Morientes and they didnt turn out to well. Hopefully Bellamy and Kuyt will be as good a signing as Cisse and Morientes were bad. To be fair I have only seen Kuyt play a couple of times but he didnt impress me much(but he did score).

From BBC:

Blackburn have given Liverpool permission to talk to Craig Bellamy after receiving a bid for the striker.

Rovers boss Mark Hughes told Bellamy, 26, that he can talk to the Reds after the bid met contractual conditions.

Blackburn chairman John Williams told the club website: "We have made it crystal clear to Craig and his advisers that we want him at Ewood Park.

"We made him an improved offer before Liverpool declared their interest, that was consistent with our ambition."

The Wales international joined Blackburn last summer after an acrimonious end to his time at Newcastle.

But Bellamy's contract at Ewood Park is thought to include a clause, active until June 30, that allows him to speak to any club offering £6m.

Liverpool are understood to have offered that amount, paving the way for contract negotiations to begin.

Williams added: "The decision now rests with the player."

Bellamy scored 17 goals in 26 league and Cup starts for Rovers last season.
