Bellamy was the best player in the SPL for the short time he was there, I'd argue that he certainly did set it alight.  Although some people will not realise the impact he had there as the SPL gets little coverage outside of Scotland.

I remember watching a particular game against Dundee Utd, and Celtic weren't playing well, but Bellamy scored a hat-trick and pretty much won the game on his own.  His time in Scotland has rejuvenated his career and he revelled in being restored as a central striker after Souness messed him about playing him out wide.

Didn't realize that mate...

Most reports I recall reading suggested that he had some difficulty settling and focused on how Celtic couldn't (or wouldn't) pay to keep him.

If what you're saying is true (and I certainly don't doubt it is)...then he's an even more attractive prospect!

He certainly was good there Bob, but we also have to remember that the SPL is nowhere near the standard of the Premiership these days.

I don't remember any talk of him not settling to be honest - he enjoyed the Glasgow nightlife by all accounts!

In terms of why he didn't stay there, Strachan wanted to keep him there apparently and Celtic matched Blackburn's offer financially.  It was Bellamy who decided he wanted to go back to the premiership.  With all due respect to Celtic, Bellamy was never going to stay there imo.

Sounds like some cheap porno movie that!!  :D

Wouldn't be surprised to see Sky screening some of this in the next couple of weeks seeing as how they haven't got any rights for the World Cup.

i'd take bellamy. Could be that player who finally finds a club and settles. I believe bellamy woud do that. He is a very good player. attitude has come across wrong in the past but from friends who are blackburn fans, they say he has been top class, exemplary attitude.

I believe that he was used as a scapegoat at newcastle cos the problem was shearer and they wont admit to that.

Bellamy yes then sell cisse in jan and bring in kuyt.

£7million Bellamy lined up by Tottenham Hotspur
14:21 June, 15, 2006
Tottenham Hotspur Football Club are set to launch a bid for Craig Bellamy.

Despite spending the best part of £11million on Bayer Leverkusen striker Dimitar Berbatov, Martin Jol is still on the lookout for one more striker to add to his squad.

With Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe already at his disposal before the arrival of the Bulgarian international, there is certainly enough talent at White Hart Lane.

And the competition could get even fiercer if they succeed with a bid for Bellamy.

The Blackburn Rovers ace was one of the stars of the Premiership last season, and Jol is lining up a £7million bid to bring him to north London ahead of the new season.

However, the Dutchman is sure to face opposition from Rovers who are reluctant to sell the Welsh international, whilst Liverpool are also likely to match any bids for the player.

Where the fk have spurs got all this money from? Last season they were collecting midfielders now it seems they are collecting strikers.I personally dont really rate Bellamy that highly but he would do a job till we can afford someone better, if we really are short of funds.( I'm still hoping its just Rafa being careful)Yesterday I read that Portsmouth had bid £15million to buy Yukubu back after offering £12million for Defoe(later denied by Rednapp). Is there some conspiracy to force Liverpool to pay over the odds? Im really not enjoying this feeling of being one of the epl's "poor relations" at the moment  :(

I'd be happy with him at LFC, SG and JC will soon sort his attitude out!! He may even cut that out if he actually plays for a descent team like LFC :)

From icliverpool:

LIVERPOOL target Craig Bellamy will discover if his dream move to Anfield will go ahead within the next two weeks.

The Blackburn striker has a £6m get-out clause in his contract, but that expires at the end of this month.

If Liverpool don't activate the clause within the next fortnight, they'll be unable to secure the Welshman's services for the same cut-price fee.

Bellamy has emerged as the most likely striking target for manager Rafa Benitez due to the postponement of Djibril Cisse's £8m transfer.

Had Cisse been sold, Benitez was ready to use the funds for a swoop for Charlton's Darren Bent.

However, the Spanish boss recognises Bellamy would represent top value for £6m, although there are still significant discussions ongoing at Anfield to determine the pros and cons of a Bellamy bid.

The fiery Welshman certainly possesses all the attributes Liverpool are seeking, but the meticulous Benitez wants to be sure the player's off-field reputation has been exaggerated.

The clock is ticking though, and now Benitez is considering whether to test the validity of the £6m get-out clause claims which have been widely reported by making a formal bid.

Liverpool will be helped by the fact Bellamy is desperate to join the Reds and has even indicated to friends he'd take a pay-cut to move to Merseyside.

If Liverpool make a move, it's understood Bellamy would demand his sale.

Spurs are also chasing the pacy frontman, while Rovers are desperate to keep him and have offered new terms which remove the £6m clause.

What's clear is if Bellamy doesn't sign for Liverpool before the end of this month, his chances of doing so will be over.

Part of his attraction is the bargain he'd seemingly represent, butif adeal isn't done soon Benitez will turn his attention back to other striking targets.

While a Bellamy deal remains under consideration, Liverpool remain encouraged by developments in their pursuit of Daniel Alves.

Seville are now resigned to losing their Brazilian and have targeted Arsenal's Lauren as a re placement.

Take him I say. At £6m he represents a great piece of business. I agree that he is a t*sser but Rafa, Gerrard and Carra would soon wind his neck in. He was class for Blackburn last year and has undoubted ability!!
