Ah Barry.

Leave Villa to go to Man C. What a man !

City will overhaul their team this off-season, but unfortunately they don't have a Jose Mourinho to blend all the players together. They have Hughes :D

Not be-rating Hughes but Mon will have the last laugh here when Villa finish above City in the upcoming season yet again.

Great news on not getting Barry 12m with 12 months to go on his contract what a rip off.

hopefully we can hang on to Alonso but I still have a feeling he is on his way out and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he just keeps hold of Lucas now and promote him if Alonso goes

What? The revived 'Barry to Liverpool' speculation was just paper talk all along? Consider me shocked. :glare:

I'd like to think this will put the Alonso rumours to bed now but, of course, it won't.  Since it's Madrid I expect those overtures will rumble on for some time.  Hopefully Perez is turning his attention to Ronaldo now, though.

He'll bring some maturity to the Citeh team, but is a 2 year solution, no more.

Crazy deal!!

People will criticise Barry for lack of ambition, but what other club would offer a player who will be 29 next season coming a 5 year contract??  And probably on mega-bucks too.  Then you've got to think he'll be first choice there, and wouldn't necessarily have been here, and it's a World Cup year so he'll want to be playing regularly.  He'd been at Villa 12 years and needed a change.  Personally I can see why that move appealed to him.  Villa did ok out of it, 12 million for a player with 12 months to go?  Not bad.

In a way I'm glad he's not signing for us, because there's more chance Alonso will stay perhaps.  On the other hand though, if Madrid put in a ridiculous bid for Alonso and he goes, Barry was probably the best replacement for that sort of price and with Prem experience that we'd have got on the market this summer.  One thing's for sure, we better hope Alonso is staying now.

This is absolutely crazy! Cuty's tactic might just be to buy everyone else's rumoured targets, let the rags do the scouting for them :D

Hopefully that means Alonso stays and thats that
