which statements ?
I havent read any saying he was thinking of leaving.

Neither have I lol but I heard the comentator at a game a week or two ago, and he said that Gerrard might leave if Liverpool dont get 4th.It sounded logical to me so I didnt boder to double check it... the guy is a sports jurnalist after all and knows much more than I do.

Which is EXACTLY what I have been saying

Yet you fail to see what i post again

HOW COME HE IS FINE FOR ENGLAND

Who says he's "fine" for England?

Did you see him during the england game ? Show no effect of injury in that game

He didn't put in a stellar show either.

And, besides, that was a single game. It's impossible to tell if he wasn't in a lot of discomfort during it (or before and after).

Besides, you are way overstating his performance in the England game, simply to try and justify your totally redundant argument.

Yes, Gerrard is not up to his usual standard...but there are reasons for that.

All he would have to say is ..... Gerrard is injured and needs a rest. Problem solved.

So gerrard gets rested for the next couple of games - how many people on here attack rafa for it ?

Becasue you will get people like hiemdall saying gerrard at 50% is better than etc at 100%

Actually, I think EVERYONE would rather have Steven playing at his best, without an injury.

None ..... if he is fecking injured. We have plenty of other things we can criticise Rafa about. We could criticise him about the way we are playing, the fact that he persists in playing 2 defensive midfielders, the fact that we are creating little, and the hundred and one other things he seems to be doing wrong. No need to criticise him about a player being injured.

Gerrard is injured, needs surgery, then rehabilitation, then match fitness. Should have happened at Christmas.

I'm convinced he's injured. Obviously not enough to stop him playing but enough that he knows if he spends 90 minutes sprinting, diving into challenges and hitting 30 yard piledrivers he'll end up out for weeks. He's playing to the level he can with this injury, unfortunately it's far below his best.

Can anyone seriously imagine Stevie, our captain, not giving his all against the Mancs, to stop them getting No. 19 and help us to fourth? No way Jose.

access wrote:Well people what can really say about Steven Gerrard that has not already been written.

I see a different Steven Gerrard this year perhaps one that has been disillusioned with what has been going on.

It no good saying ‘leave him out’ ‘sell him’ ‘he’s :censored:’ he has been no doubt our best player over the last decade.

So what IS going on his mind his mental attitude isn’t the same this season and it’s not about him saving himself for the World Cup.
Rightly or wrongly he has been petulant recently frustrated by what’s going on.

1. Could it be he is playing in a team that he sees ‘struggling?
2. Could it be he is playing for a manager who he see is actually ‘out of his depth’?
3. Could it be he is playing with players around him in that aren’t up to the job?
4. Could it be he is playing at the end of his career and still hasn’t won the Premiership?
5. Could it be that last year they got so near but this year they are so far?
6. Could it be that in his own mind he ‘wonders’ if he stays at Anfield will he EVER win the Premiership?
7. Could it be he sees the likes of Manchester City and Spurs developing?
8. Could it be he his own personal battle with ‘what he actually wants?
9. Could he really consider a move abroad at the end of his career?
10. Could it be that the owners will never develop the team or its future?

That's a good post and a nice summary of the things that could be affecting his psyche. We know Stevie's a complex character and when he thinks too much his form suffers - Chelsea, personal issues etc.

I don't think it's enough to account for his current performances. It's not that he doesn't want to sprint/tackle etc. it's that he cant because he's injured.

So you would rather believe that the manager is not doing his job because he is frightened of being criticised on an internet forum, and that Gerrard is not trying because he doesn't want CL football next season?

He did as much as he could with the chronic injury he's carrying.
