Europa league - Here we come

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Penguins » Thu Dec 10, 2009 1:57 am

Even if the repuation of the cup is lower than the CL, there are many tough teams left and the games are at least going to be fun to watch. Better a Europa cup win than out in the quarters in the CL.

No knockout anymore?  I think we just may win this thing then.  Rafa is really good at two legged matches.

There are a lot of good teams which we could draw but I think we could be a good bet to win the competition. I still think finishing in the top four should be the main aim, but the sight of one trophy being lifted would be welcomed this season.

this thread is fecking depressing :(

well from here on we have to win the FA cup, UEFA cup and finish third in the league, then I MIGHT forgive Rafa for how awful it's been so far

Pretty sure we would have been seeded if we didn't concede that last late goal.

Not seeded....how depressing...might draw a good team...how depressing....maybe I will stay at home and watch on tv ....how depressing...or perhaps I will go to Anfield and watch Liverpool play against a good European side......yeh! sounds about right...life goes on    :)

Doesn't matter if we are seeded or not as I believe we'll eventually meet them at the end of the competition! Bring it on!  :buttrock

I am not bothered who we play as I quite agree we have to play them at some stage, its the fact of where are are now against the same stage last year. Depressing

Some people on here are SO misarable.

We are still playing in Europe.
If we win this competition (and right now its a big if) we keep the trophy

Lets get behind the lads and hope by the time we kick off (in Europe) we have kicked on in the league and are on a bit of a winning run.

Liverpool FC - Still in EUROPE :p
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

My thoughts exactly, I'm glad we're not seeded as i'd rather we were up against the best this tournament has to offer. No point bemoaning the fact we can't play against Europe's elite and the next complaining we might have to face the best the UEFA Cup has to offer. I'm desperate for a semi-final against the bitters. that would be something else! Ajax would be nice draw as well.

If we make the final we would have played nine matches. I am happy there are more matches than in the CL as I get to watch more matches. Not being seeded does not mean that much as I would rather tougher teams but i can bet you that those seeded teams will still be nervous of facing us.

This thread isn't "depressing", it exposes some bizarre thinking. We've won only three of the last 14 games and people are talking up our chances of winning a cup! Unless Rafa believes a cup win will save his skin like his predecessor in 09/10 version 1 ie 02/03, he should focus on backing up his bold/idiotic claim that we will finish in the top four by actually doing it, and so prioritise the league for a change
