Hopefully Argentina will beat Uruguay and qualify for the WC, that should take a lot of pressure off the captain

Thats a massive issue down here in South America Joe, the whole continent is willing Argentina to lose tomorrow.

If Uruguay win, they go fourth with automatic qualification, Argentina are fifth and play Ozzie in the play off. BUT if Urugauy beat Argentina and Ecuador beat Chile then Ecuador get the fifth spot and Argentina are out !

As you can see..... no pressure.....

Argentina and Chile are the important countries of the spanish speaking ones and have a well known rivalry. I can certainly see Ecuador beating Chile, once Chile are qualified.

I think Argentina will pass, anyway. I know why Nanny thinks it's a good idea he doesn't go to the WC, but "hell" is no exageration to describe what might happen in Argentina if they don't qualify. It's beyond our European comprehension to understand the mechanism of the brain of an Argentinian let down by their team. That would be as disruptive for Mascherano as the affaires with his wife and his 4 lovers all together. That's why I want he gets to the WC. And because if we're going to sell him, the WC is a goodd place in order we receive high offers.

i believe that the 5th place team in South America plays the 4th place team in North America, not Australia, Australia isn't even in Oceania anymore, they are in Asia.

Insua was already the captain of an Argie side that failed to qualify for a World Cup (u20 version), I am sure it would hurt his psyche if just when he comes into the team they fail to qualify for the world cup proper

they also blew it at the weekend against peru who had lost every game away from home. Anybody see Maradona after they got the winner?
