Just had a quick look on the guardian chalkboards for the game against Villa. For passes, the stats are:

Gerrard:

Successful     41
Unsuccessful  16

Lucas:

Successful     32
Unsuccessful  3

So if people are gonna slate him for giving the ball away against Villa they best be prepared to criticise other players too. ???

We should be questioning Rafa not criticising Lucas.

Glood point but many seem to think he is beyond criticism!

well he is not!.......its about time Rafa stood up and accepted the blame for buying inferior average players that are just nowhere good enough to play for LFC. He will paper over the cracks as long as people keep turning a blind eye to his woeful tactics, and keeping blind faith in players who should never be allowed to grace our famous turf.If we dont get a win at bolton, or god forbid we lose then rafa will be heading towards the exit door, and i for one would gladly open it nice and wide for him.  :nod

I would rather have one successful pass from gerrard than 20 from Lucas. The difference is simple Gerrard makes things happen. how many of Lucas's 32 successful passes were more than 5 to 20 yards? You could make George Bush look good with stats!!!!!!!!!!!
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 20/21 to 24/25  (10 years
are in brackets 15/16 to 24/25 )
LFC €300m (€420m)
Everton +€33m (€211m)
Arsenal €557m (€853m)
Spurs €571m (€684m)
Chelsea €945m (€1051m)
Man City €370m (€1038m)
Man United €687m (€1240m)

How many of Gerrard's 41 successful passes led to anything? No doubt that's Lucas' fault as well.

i guess the point is that plenty of times we've carried a player having a bad game, but when several of our team start playing :censored: then we lose games

gerrard shoudln't be beyond criticism because of who he is - and he ought to carry as much blame as anyone for our start to the season, he's been :censored: poor

Well yes I am lad, is that a problem?

What did Gerrard contribute to the game against Villa? Apart from doing a very good impersonation of a fella who had just married the best looking bird on the planet only to find that when he lifted her frock on the wedding night he found himself looking at the last turkey in the shop.

I mentioned the stats because some (not all!) on here are slating Lucas no matter what he does while other players escape criticism.

After that gif was put up, the response was along the lines of "he gave the ball away after that so he must be :censored:". Gerrard gave the ball away more but that doesn't mean he's :censored: does it.

Lucas is by no means a top class player but he's given almost zero credit on here. Even if he makes successful passes they're dismissed as being too simple or too easy. A big failure in the start of our season (and pre-season for that matter) has been our ability to pass accurately.

Anyway, should Lucas play against Bolton? perhaps not.
Is he the worst player we've ever had? don't be ridiculous. Similar things were said of Kuyt this time last year.

Having said that we won the European Cup in 2005 with what could arguably be described as our worst team ever of all our teams that won it in the past (team at the peak of their powers) so you never know.  :;):

I wouldn't say that.

Hyppia of 2005 is way better than skertel and agger version 2009

Hamann of 2005 is way way better the mascherano and lucas version 2009

Baros  :buttrock & Cisse were way way way way better than Kuyt, Ngog & Voronin

Riise is much better than Insua & Dossena. He is also a goal threat.

Yeh baros of 2005 is way better than Torres of 2009

Smicer of 2005 is way better than yossi of 2009

Finnan of 2005 is way better than Johnson of 2009

 .. give me a f*cking break, if they were better then surely we wouldn't have gotten 5th place in 2005 opposed to 2nd in 2009

Well then i guess, we measure success differently..... If u think finishing 2nd is more successful than winning the champions league... hey thats you.

FWIW, I do think as a whole (on the average), the team has improved....But by how much ? Benitez has been here for more than 4 years.. Has he really improved the team much from what he took over from ? Yeah Torres is a huge improvement.....Yeah Reina is our best goalkeeper in the last 15 years or so. Apart from that ?

Great.....the way you have compared the best we had to offer back then compared to our worst we have now,it does not make for a great debate really does it?
In fact it only cements one thing...You spelt your name wrong...It begins with a C....come on tell the truth..the R was a typo? :nod

Whoa..So Your're admitting that...mascherano, Lucas, Kuyt, Ngog & Voronin,  Insua, Dossena, skertel and agger are the worst players we have ?

Seeing how most of the players above play a substantial part in our team..... - well i rest my case.

Well as for my name....you gotta ask your momma...she was ****ing it last nite

Hyppia at 2005 was he 30 ..?
Agger and Skrtel  at 2009 .. 25 ?

Was traore better for you also ..?

Hamann way way better then mascherano ..? Lucas is agree but better then mascherano . Your having a laugh .

Baros ..? Cisse ..?
Where are they ..?
After Liverpool what happen to them :)
Voronin - Free , Ngog - 2mp ?
Kuyt is way way better then them.

I agree on Riise with you .  But still will give dossena another season and insua who is young and surely will be a class act .

When we start winning , eveything will look positive and class but when we lose everyone start to whine and compare with the past .

? So is a player at 30 over the hill then?? Hyppia back in 2005 was far superior to Skyrtel and Agger.

Hamann was definitely better than Mascherano in my opinion although MAscherano is a good Dm as well.

I would take Baros and Cisse over Kuyt, Wash and Voronin any day of the week (AS STRIKERS)

Yes I'm going to give Dossena another season as well. Two reasons, firstly because while he's not in the team I've kind of forgotten how bad he is. Secondly, we haven't got any choice because nobody wants to sign him, as he is awful.

I vote we give him two more seasons at least then send him out on loan for the final year of his contract. We'll have to pay most of his wages obviously, but whichever Italian club takes him can at least supplement the last 18 months or so of his contract before he leaves on a free. Fecking Parry
