Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

why are people talking about robben when he spends most of his career more injured than degen and kewell put together ?!

I reckon we will prob end up paying around ten million for johnson then take away any money we get for dossena all adds up to a great buy in my eyes for a player who fills a gap where we lack . and an out lay of around ten million will still leave us money to get players in attacking areas .

People have pops at rafa cause he signs no one will madrid buy the footballing world then when he buys someone of very good quality in an area where we are weak he still gets attack - what the feck should rafa do ? play Football manager more ?

He has chosen us instead of United, Spurs, City and Chelsea so good enough for me  :nod
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

People are underestimating the full back position here i feel, compared to the other 3 we're sorely lacking in that department. So Rafa goes out and bids for arguably the best RB in the league last season and people still complain, unbelieveable.

Another thing is, we don't know what is included in the deal in terms of add-ons etc. i'd be fairly certain we wont be paying 18m straight up, that on the assumption the fee is 18m which it probably aint!

Thats just messin around with money, thats money we are owed and still has to come into the club and now we are not getting it

Hilarious how people think selling other players reduces the money this full back cost.

Does getting a few England caps (even Walcott has those) make you world class? looked great against Andorra and Kazakstan - £18m a snip.

Why didn't we buy him a year ago for about £6m? Finnan at his peak only cost about £2m.

:censored: business - so bad it makes the Robbie Keane fiasco seem like Warren Buffet runs the club.

Some of you really should watch your damn mouths.  Rafa took a team with constant nagging injuries and one that honestly shouldn't have done so well in the league to the brink of a league title he really does deserve more than this sht, christ.  The Keane saga didn't turn out so bad now did it? stfu ffs

Say they owe us 7 from Crouch.. so tis 11 mill

say we sell dossena for 5? thats 6 million

sell arbeloa for 8... thats us 2 million in credit

say it depends how he does, so we pay half now....

that means that for buying Johnson we actually make 11 million

Best business ever

:D
Arent you the clever one... lets go out and buy David Villa then.. im sure if we add Kuyt, Babel, and maybe Voronin we would make money out of that too.. eh fck it you can try to justify it all you want.. 18mill is 18mill is too much.... a luxury we cant seem to afford as i said... Its like Everton signing a replacement for Howard for 15mill... Howards a good little goalie and they deffo have other areas they should be looking to improve on first...

Only thing that would make this deal understandable is if we go out and buy a top attacking asset before summer ends WITHOUT selling one of our key players to fund it...

Absolutely fuming here....

Big nail, do you agree that Johnson would improve our right full back?

Keane never was good enough for a such big club like Liverpool, Never.

Johnson, maybe is expensive, but good enough for any club in the premiership, and that is a big step.

Maybe im wrong but do most of yous know exactly how much Rafa has to spend?

By the way some are going in its as if this is all our money gone right here and now and thats all our shopping over with for the summer!! Its only the middle of June FFS, lets just wait and see what else Rafa has up his sleeve before declaring this a disaster before it has even happened

Amen

johnson is a recognised Premiership right back, a capped international player who is only getting better and crosses well.

Hes 18 million, but we dont know what that includes add on wise and what they owe us for Crouch (whch they may have taken years to pay)

So let's give the lad a chance, he wants to play for us, he obviously has the desire and skill, so whats the prob?

Some people just are never happy until they themselves are running the club and buying the players they want - we have just got a deal to buy the best english fullback there is - one that will improve our team , he is still young and can only improve so everyone will know he would have to cost a bit .You cant compare buying finnan for 4 million 7 years ago to the prices now .

P.s this is the third right back Rafa has bought Arbs - first choice for two and half season and Degen (not played yet ).

Some people are never fecking happy . we have just improved oour squad end off

Is it a shoddy bit of business.  Yes.  This amount is obviously way too much for a RB.  The bottom line though for me is quite simple though.  Are we a better side after signing Glen Johnson?  IMHO i truly believe we are.  As has been mentioned, I think Johnson will provide a great partnership with Kuyt on the right.  This is the creative right sided player that we are getting.  Something that people on hear have been moaning we've needed for ages.

Maybe Rafa's thinking on this situation goes along the lines of this.  Can I get a great RW or RM for 15-20 million, probably not that'll cost more like 20-25 million.  Why not get a very good attacking RB/RWB and use Kuyt in more of a defensive cover role on the right when the RB is going forward.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.
