All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

If there's any truth in it, surely Fergie would know that Torres would cost much more than 40 million quid and he has money to burn with 80 million quid coming in. Torres has settled in the EPL very well, and has proven some people wrong who thought he'd struggle with the physical side of the EPL when he first signed for us.

Torres is better all-round than David Villa while Villa may be more clinical in his finishing. if we sell him, it would be very difficult to replace him despite the cash we can raise from this piece of business.

His starting value in terms of bids just went up threefold after his 17 minute hat-trick against the kiwis.

Remind fergie what he said when we wanted Heinze, hardly a pivotal player in their midst.......................................

If we want £40m out of fergie, all we need to do is buy shares in whiskey!
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

I´ve heard it´s the hat-trick faster in the history, only with 17 minutes of game, is true?

erm no of the top of my head Fowler was quicker with his hat trick against Arsenal but there must be even quicker ones than that.

I WILL NEVER JOIN UNITED SAYS TORRES

FERNANDO TORRES has warned Sir Alex Ferguson that he will never join Manchester United.

The Premier League champions have been linked with a big-money move for the Liverpool hitman as they line up summer targets following Cristiano Ronaldo’s world record £80m switch to Real Madrid.

But Torres insists he has no intention of leaving Anfield for Liverpool’s fiercest rivals after smashing 50 goals in two seasons for the Reds.

Torres signed a new contract at the end of last month and said: “I don’t know anything about United, just that it has been in the newspapers.

“Listen, my team is Liverpool and this is very clear to me.

“This club has it all – the history, the prestige, the fans, the organisation.

“It’s a big responsibility to give the fans here the success they desire, but the challenge is always exhilarating and this is why I was delighted to sign a new contract.”

Having committed his long-term future to Liverpool, Torres has now urged boss Rafa Benitez to snap up his Spanish strike partner David Villa ahead of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“Rafa Benitez makes the signings and I’m sure those who come will improve us,” said Torres. “If it was me I would bring David Villa. But that may not be possible.”

Torres’ partnership with Villa is once again the talk of the football world after combining brilliantly in Spain’s 5-0 thrashing of New Zealand in the Confederations Cup. Torres scored a hat-trick with Villa setting one up
before scoring his 29th goal in just 45 international appearances.

“We play well together and link up so well,” said Torres. “It’s a pleasure to play with him.

“I don’t know if we are the best partnership in the world but we are the European champions and that is almost the same.”

With or without Villa, Torres remains desperate to end Liverpool’s 19-year wait for a league title.

“They say foreign players don’t care as much as the home-grown ones, but we are very much aware that Liverpool haven’t won the Premier League for 19 years and understand the supporters are desperate for us to put that right,” he said.

“The rivalry with Manchester United is intense and the roof will come off at Anfield if we beat them to next year’s title.

“Obviously the Champions League means a lot to Liverpool, but the English title is the one everyone wants in our dressing room.

“Liverpool is a phenomenon, with millions of fans who identify with everything the club stands for.

“They are at one with the players and that’s why we get the backing at Anfield.

“Now we need to win the big trophies and we can trust Rafa Benitez to keep the momentum going for us.”
