Do what you ask. Well he is currently on FIFTEEN league goals for the season, that in just NINETEEN appearances. He scored 24 in his first season (07/08) to become the first player to score 20+ in a Premiership season since Robbie Fowler scored 28 in 1995/96. Despite being our top league goalscorer in SEVEN consecutive seasons, Michael Owen never scored more than 19 in one season. Since Owen left Gerrard has twice topped our season's league goalscoring, much maligned Kuyt was top scorer with 12 in 06/07 and Baros was top scorer with just NINE in Rafa's first season, the season in which Owen departed

Can Torres join Fowler in twice scoring 20+ goals in a Premiership season?

pretty meanlingless in the big scheme of things. But nice little factoid nevertheless.

I think with the games remaining, and if he remains uninjured, I voted yes. please god yes.

Not really, if he scores five or more goals in the last five games, bearing in mind we have Brum and the mancs away and Chelsea at home in that run, it could play a big part in our struggle for 4th

And noone said he had to score exactly 20, it would be an amazing feat given the most games he could end on is 27, Owen might not have achieved it but did score 16 in 29 appearances for us in his last season.

O(WEN) SO CLOSE

97/98 18 in 36 apps
98/99 18 in 30 apps

00/01 16 in 28 apps
01/02 19 in 29 apps
02/03 19 in 35 apps
03/04 16 in 29 apps

Ratio-wise only in 97/98 of the above would he not have scored 20+ goals had he played 38 games and continued his scoring rate.

And last season Torres scored only 14 Premiership goals, one less than he's managed this season with eight games remaining. I doubt he'll equal or best his 07/08 tally of 24, but his goals to game ratio is better this season than it was then.

I'd expect him to fill his boots against the likes of Burnley and Hull later in the season. His scoring record against Chelsea is also remarkably good.

Infact this season he'd be right up there with Rooney and Drogba in the scoring charts if he'd stayed fit.

5+ is no problem for torres if he stays fit.the lad on form is a goal machine.
he'll be looking to prepare for the wc and will want to finish the season on top form as spain have a great chance to win it,and him being on form will be instrumental to that.
weve yet to see a full season from nando ,but his goals ratio is astounding.if fit for a full one he'd easily eclipse drogba and rooney and would be a golden boot winner hands down.

It's actually 2012 but it's a mis-translation it is not the end of the world but rather a massive change in awareness and consciousness.

Everyone suddenly realises it was Rafa that was holding us back all along ?  :D

I think Torres will do it, we have a couple of hard games but he should also fill his boot in a couple.
