Tevez anyone?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

The owners have been selling bits of other franchises between them haven't they? Well it's time to pony up and put their money where their mouths are. I remember one of them saying well buy Snoop Dogg, well let's see. :D

It`s 25 mill plus wages over 5 yrs though.

I wouldn't pay more than around the £30k mark for Tevez, if fergie thought he was worth that he'd willingly pay that if he'll pay that for Bubbletop

I'm interested in how Rafa would use Tevez, if there is any truth in the rumours and the cited source on bbc gossip is hardly 'reliable'. Surely Rafa won't go back to 4-4-2 when we've had two years with few defeats using the current system.

7kewell - Keane looked back to his Liverpool 'best' from the highlights I saw last weekend, tossing away two pretty good chances. I do wonder how much Keane's two goals at Anfield last season 'sealed the deal', even though I seem to recall both came about because Bubbletop outjumped Sami and flicked on for Keane to score.

I liked Keane and was sad to see him go, because he is a good player. Sadly, he just didn't do what Rafa asked him to on the field, and that is why he kept getting taken off...because Rafa would give him instructions and he would pretty much ignore them.

saying that, he's been pretty woeful for Spurs too...so maybe its just an 'off' season for the lad.

In regards to Tevez, i like him and think he's a very good player. But where would he play?

Tevez is a utility opportunity player and would perform the same role as Kuyt, Riera and Gerrard behind and supplying Torres.

He would also play the lead role when Torres is rested/injured.

I see massive potential but he's so fúcking ugly........... ???

is that a trick question? surely rafa would play him upfront just behind Torres when playing 4-4-2 and on the bench at all other times. :D

you'd think with all the money he earns he'd have reconstructive surgery and buy himself a new face.

I hope he puts Tevez in the same role as Kuyt but on the opposite side - so one side isn't a lot more ugly than the other! If he could weigh in with the same level of goals and assists as Kuyt, with Gerrard and Tevez maintaining something like the same levels themselves, then surely we must move forwards and maybe even break into a sizeable lead rather than by three points at most as was the case this season.

I was reading that link on Rafa's Rant II and it quoted David Gill as saying they can buy Tevez for £24m. I think they'd be crazy not to take that option, for starters they won't have control over who he joins which is daft if he joins a rival, and for seconds they spend money like water on kids (serbian pair, this Dodo they are linked with, all the other Brazilian kids etc) and yet won't spend money on a pivotal squad/1st team player. Maybe the purse strings are being tightened, or maybe fergie is feeling that he needs to strengthen elsewhere and has been told it's Tevez and no other signings, or the £24m as a budget. Not sure they are that weak in any one area, maybe RB, and he can always sell a player or half a dozen kids to clubs willing to pay £3m+ for their cast-offs.

Actually it's 22Mil as they have already paid 8Mil as a downpayment and thus got him on a 'loan'. But it's a lot of money for someone who isn't a 20 goal a season striker. Especially if Ronaldo goes even they will want to bring in someone who can score a lot as Rooney and Berbatov dont.

Tevez is only a loan player, maybe some of the ancient "traditional" supporters who scream "Never a ManU player at Anfield" should realise that Tevez has never said a bad word against us,is best frinds with Mascher(Damn you Mascher for being friends with a ManU player) and had his representatives in Liverpool last week wondering what our actual offer might be.

i`d take tevez, every day, every week and every season for the next ten seasons(we win the league).

I agree totally. Tevez will be that extra punch up front we've been looking for. Experience in the league, workhorse-like attitude, more than decent skills on the ball plus an already established friendship with Mascherano and in future Insua (the Argentinian connection).

I really can't think of anyone better... maybe Messi??  :D

But the mother of all attracting factors is the fact that getting him will be a f*%king big tight slap on the face of Manure  :buttrock

One of the new breed ,we ancient  "traditionalists"  you show such apparent contempt towards ,are of the considered opinion that your emphasis on the win at all cost mentality is currently destroying this once beautiful game ......

I think maybe more respect should be shown to the diehard fans that supported Liverpool home and away through our glorious past ,and the traditions and code that they passed down from father to son should be proffered a tad more respect ...

Tevez soon comes to regret his summer move to Liverpool:

I think we will see Rafa at his ruthless best early in the summer and see our transfers wrapped up quickly and without too much fuss.

Bring in Tevez, Silva, Barry and a CB (depending on who goes down maybe Wheater or Taylor) with the likes of Babel, Dossena, Degen, Pennant etc etc going out and we are in great shape going into next season.

Mentioning 50 million could be a ploy to help Kia extract top whack from ManUre to make it hurt the more and curtail their other purchases.

Cost nowt to put a few rumours out there that cost Ure an extra 10 million..........   "ave that".

you reckon...?

We have been pretty hopeless in the past few years at getting the deals done.  Parry always got the blame so it will be interesting to see what happens this year.

Problem will be, if we have to sell to buy, other clubs will know this and hold us to ransom with rediculously low prices knowing they will be stopping us from buying anyone..

I see it as another frustrating close season..
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

I agree it will be very interesting t see whether it really was Parry that was the problem or whether Rafa now start blaming someone else. I'd prefer the outcome that Rafa gets exactly who he wants and that they all work out.
