I think he is exactly what Rafa got as he is not a superstar as some of you had hope for. He is a very useful player who is one of the better dribbler in our team. He can provide what we don't have before on the wing. This is not our problem area. If we can get someone like Lennon or Wright philips on the right, Riera should even have an easier time and more space to do his thing. At 8 million, i think we paid fairly. It was hard for us to find any servicable winger over the years and to think we could get someone cheap and good or someone as expensive and good as David Silva would be unrealistic. Riera would probably stick around for the next couple of years unless he do a Pennant and party himself out of a place.

Yeah spot on. Someone on here said it perfectly when they said he is one of those players that should be rotated now and again so he stays on his toes. Hopefully we can bring in Gareth Barry in the summer and then that's our left side sorted.

Not sure barry is really a left sided attacking player thou mate - i know he has a good left foot but not really a wide player as such

He can play there as well as in a number of positions. Right now he wouldn't get into the center of midfield so on the left would be his best option.

Dont think he would offer us anymore than reira out left thou mate so cant see him getting in ahead of reira or aurelio at left back or as you say in the centre ahead of xabi or masher or gerrard so where would he fit in ?

Barry would have come straight into the center as a replacement for Xabi. But as Xabi is well settled and is one of our main weapon, I don't see any sense in signing Barry. I'd like someone who can operate in both wings, no real big signings needed imo.

Signing Barry means we have more strength in depth.

He probably wouldnt make the ideal starting line up but would be rotated regularly for a central midfield or left wing role. People might say what is the point in buying him if he is just going to be sitting on the bench? Well he is going to be taking over Lucas who has had a lot of game time this season and will be constantly going on the left wing because Rafa always makes subs on this position.

I would probably prefer Riera on the left wing because he is more capable of taking players on, but Barry has a good cross on him and is good both attacking and defending.

Our intrest in Silva and Eto'o excites me,with rafa now having 'control' of transfers

These could be the type of player he will be allowed to bid for.

Personally, i think we should spend £30M on Tevez, poaching him from under the scums nose.

Torres/Tevez strikeforce is my shout,
I've watched my Heroes throught the slats at Melwood,,
I've STOOD on the KOP,,
I've cried for the 96 ,,

Don't EVER question my loyalty or support.

I prefer Eto'o/ Torres... the 2 best strikers in the world... and Eto'o seems to be versatile enought to be able to play with different partners... I'm not very convinced with tevez this season... he has gone down a bit in my reckoning... plus gerrard can do what tevez does and even better...

Tevez is manure's best striker its a shame that berbatov gets ahead of him . This is the same carlos tevez who rescued west ham from relegation by himself . I would love it if we signed him , although 32 million is a huge joke of a price tag . We can get eto from half of that as his contract is running out .

As for barry yes he is very versatile but he doesn't have the dribbling skills of reira , although he is a fantastic crosser of the ball , still signing him though makes our midfield very superb , masch, alonso, gerrard and barry what a midfield and two of them can play on the flanks as well , i think we can get barry for a knock of price of 5 mill or so as barry can buy out his contract
