Throw that into the mix for sure - the guy is absolutely world class, as he showed when he tore us apart playing for Deportivo La Coruna, furthermore he wants out at Real because he's not getting ANY games there (How he didn't make it off the bench to play against us at Anfield when they were 2-0 down is beyond me) and they want rid. Snap him up for £6-8million and plough more finances into the wing areas. :p

i dont think the Anfield bench is any wormer mate... his a$s must be numb from sitting on the damn benches so im guessing he would probably want to go somewhere to start week in week out while collecting ridiculous wages...

Which brings us back to the one and only name that should be considered if we'r going for the cheap option: Michael Owen... lets bring the kid back home im sure he has a point to prove...

What use is Owen is he is always getting injured. He has lost all his pace now. Besides Rqfa tried to bring him back already and he said no so let him rot.

Saviola never played for Deportivo la Coruna. He played for Monaco, though, if thats what you are remember. I think he scored against us after a handball as well.

Personally, I don't like him. He is a money gruber, who isn't top class.

I can't make any suggestions for strikers. Seems like our strikers (bar Torres) are cursed. So even if they play well somewhere else, who knows how they will do here...

yeah sorry, ta for the correction - must've been Monaco.

He is a striker of international quality for Argentina no less, he is experienced in Europe and on the biggest stage at the World Cup, we've been linked to him before, he is an out and out centre forward who is at the peak of his footballing years (something we said about Keane when we signed him, the importance of buying someone who will slip into the first team squad here and now, rather than breaking into it in a season or two's time) and he would be relatively CHEAP. Plus nowhere near as bad a sicknote as Owen yet an equally big name player who will add personality to the dressing room.

Liverpool linked to Saviola in February 2009

Real Madrid
2007-08  League Apps 9, Goals 3
2008-09 League Apps 7, Goals 1

he's barely getting a look in  :oh:

Career Total League Apps 278, Goals 114

I calculate that as a goal every 2.43 games since he started playing as a teenager in 1998 for River Plate - no mean feat considering El Niño's comparative stats see him only just edge Saviola with an average of a goal every 2.29 games  :nod  he is the business.

Well Roque Santa Cruz has just stated he wants to leave Blackburn in the Summer.

I think he'd be a great addition.

Only professional to - play in goal (41 appearances), Defence, Midfield, Striker, and later be Director and then to be Manager (winning a Championship) - at one club

Two reservations about him mate:

1)  Dodgy knees - I reckon that's got something to do with why Bayern let him go

2)  His price is massively inflated considering he's only had one good season in the Premiership - who knows if he can ever reproduce that?  There've been plenty of one season wonders in the Premiership.  Darren Bent springs to mind.

We are in a great position now, in world and european football.

We are challenging for the world's strongest domestic league.

Our destruction of Real and man u was  monumental, and had the world singing our praises. (even johan cruyff)

We have two of the best 6 players in the WORLD play for our team (fact!)

What i'm saying is that we are a very attractive club right now, and we must capitalize on it this summer.

i hope rafa pulls something out of the bag this summer, now he has full control of transfers.

I'd love to see Iaquinta come to England, he's big, strong and can finish. No slouch in the pace department either.

Like I said in the summer transfer thread.  Trezeguet would be an awesome addition.
