Everytime Lucas misplaced a pass the crowd near me were right on his back. On the other hand Mascherano gave the ball equally frequently, (not to mention the ridiculous 25 yard shots) and there was barely a murmur.

I agree with stmichael. The stick he is getting is incredible. His first misplaced pass in the second half was met with so much hostility that it was hard to believe that he was a Liverpool player. In no way was he the worst Liverpool yesterday.

Its got to the stage that he is getting blamed for everything. I went to the pub after the game where a pal of mine asked me whether I'd gone. When I said I had he said, "that bloody Lucas hey". I asked him whether he had gone or at least seen it on the box. He said he hadn't even seen it or heard any of the radio commentary.

In essence his reasoning was from hearing the team news before the game and once he heard that we hadn't won assumed automatically that the whole result was down to Lucas.

Its clear that the club will have to sell him in the summer. The lad will have to get away from our place to give himself a chance of any decent career in football.

Another thing I couldn't work out from the game yesterday was Bellamy getting booed. What was his crime? He signed for and played for the team of his dreams. Like most strikers under our current manager he was used intermittently and sold when he wanted to stay. I couldn't fathom out the booing.

I thought that was very odd too. I can't claim to have 500 visits to Anfield myself, but in the years I have watched Liverpool I don't recall too many former players being booed like that.

In his time at the club it would probably be fair to say his transfer didn't work out (although I'd have him back at the club in a heartbeat) but he always ran his b0ll0cks off in every game I saw him in. He didn't slag the club or manager when he left from what I read, didn't utter a bad word about us in the press.

Then he scores a goal and doesn't celebrate, and the fans boo him? It's a strange world sometimes.

Is it perchance because he tried to club one of his teammates to death with a golfclub ?  :D

Or is it because he's a total mercenary ?  :D

it's the difference in the generations mick. the time of respecting an ex player on their return to anfield is few & far between i'm affraid mate. however in bellamy's case i will never forgive him for his attack on JAR. which is probably the main reason for the so called booing  :p  fwiw i personally haven't booed any ex player, but if any ex player deserved any kind of accectable verbal abuse,it has to be diouf. i doubt many would argue that!

back to why lucas? yesterday's game highlighted for me though, that he is very much out of his depth at LFC. every time he recieved the ball he was facing the wrong fecking way! the amount of times i screamed encouragement for him to turn & go the other way - fecking turn around & attack them lad, don't pass it back to the defence! i lost count in the end,he was very frustrating to watch,he plays like a rabbit caught in the oppo's headlights for me. he has no confidence on the ball,& didn't take yet another oppotunity to shine in the "engine room "

masha may not of been the ideal partner in midfield for him, because of masha's strentgh to play the defensive role, left lucas exposed to create chances drive foward etc.

i also thought that as a result of this reirra, & yossi found themselves coming inside alot of the time to try & retrieve poscession, in order to keep the attack going, so then as a futher result of that when any attack was formed down the left hand side, dossena was to fecking slow to respond to any sort of overlapping attacks. the moves broke down etc.

i really wanted lucas to give his all yesterday, take his chance with both hands, i want any player in the red shirt to do well, but lucas imho just isn't good enough at the moment. he may become better with age, but not at this level at this moment in time.

It probably is mate and it's a shame. When I were a lad such things were lapped up by supporters. Dexterity with a seven iron in a scrap was a pre-requisite for folklore status, stitches in the back of the head from a stray five wood worn like a badge of honour.

Times have changed and not for the better    :D .

I like the player actually and do not think he is as bad as everyone makes out. Booing him was shocking as he has only ever tried his best for the club. Fans of today  :no

I understand alot of people dislike him because he hasn't really done great at the club...but i am a firm believer of supporting the players we have rather then question there ability.

Don't get me wrong, im not sayign you shouldn't, this is a forum to express your feelings. It's just how i personally see things...support the player while there yours.

Im behind you Lucas :D

Well said...I was at the Fulham game a while back and some ar$ewipe behind me booed every time Lucas misplaced a pass (which admittedly happened a lot) and also as the lads went off at half-time.
