I feel a bit sorry for the lad. Not good enough by a long shot, but booing him is bang out of order.

Very harsh on the lad. He's played really well in some games this term, such as Newcastle when he was man of the match and probably our best performance of the season.

He's played some poor games recently, notably his penalty give away and sending off (a very harsh double booking), which has made him a scapegoat with some of our 'fans'. However, in those games he has been poor prior to that so were the whole team and at games like the 0-0 to Stoke Lucas gave a better performance than Mascha or Stevie.

Two things to bear in mind with Lucas :

i) he only just turned 22 a few weeks ago;

ii) in the year before we bought him he was Brazils youngest ever footballer of the year, aged 19 - an award won in the four previous years by Tevez, Robhino, Alex and Kaka. Write him off if you like, but he is very talented and going to be a very good footballer. I hope that's with us. Whether you believe that or not the people who booed made me sick, people like the dickhead sat in front of me who shouted at Dossena to keep running all the way back to italy when he was warming up in front of us.

was at the game on tuesday and was at the front of the annie rd , couldnt beleive the crescendo of booing when lucas came on. it sounded like the whole annie rd upper tier from where i was. dont get me wrong i'm not his biggest fan but his confidence must be shot to pieces. it reminds me of around ten years ago when a certain jamie carragher suffered the booing of these so called "fans"...... i wonder if these same morons still boo our legendary number 23........ i think not ???

Valiant opinion.

When Alonso was injured last season, Lucas played more and played well. More than one fan would pick him over Alonso back then.

His season is not good, ok, we all can see that, but he doesn't deserve so much stick. The most worrying thing is that it happened when things do matter, in the stadium.

Gutted for the lad.

might not be ready for us just now and bugs the :censored: out of me but he should never ever get boooed. You can expect moans and groans for some poor performances but booing him when coming on is only detrimental to the team

He was wanted by a few big teams, seemed from reports and clips to be a cracking player!

It is quite possible that he does have talent but nerves are getting the better of him......very good players have be known to buckle - you have to consider he is still young, new surroundings  ( even still) and to be Honest after reading Yossi's comments today about Senor Benitez not congrat. the players and being distant from them Id hardly say our dressing room and training ground is the kind of place where a bit of love is shown towards you. Benitez needs to start treating our less est. players with a bit more encouragement etc........I feel sorry for the lad and in no way does he deserve to be booed:angry:

So I assume those slating Lucas have a magic alternative? Plessis perhaps? To probably do no better or worse and get booed too? Or a change of formation to 4-4-2 and who exactly to partner Torres? (or his replacement when he's injured)

Shouldn't the Babel thread be : "Why Babel? Is he really from Holland?" :D
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

What gets me is that Rafa said he sold Keane because he just didn't perform in the 6 months there.

Lucas hasn't performed in 18 months plus and we've still got him !!!!

He should go out on loan to clear his head and find some form. All the booing cannot be good for his confidence especially playing at home.

Liverpool Midfielder Lucas Leiva Open To Atletico Madrid Move
The Reds’ Brazilian midfielder has revealed that he could join his famous uncle’s former club in the near future…

Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva has opened the door for a possible move to the Primera Division to join Atletico Madrid as he struggles to nail down a permanent first team place at Anfield under Rafa Benitez.

Despite a strong showing last term following his transfer from Gremio, the 22-year-old Brazilian has been limited to substitute appearances this campaign and he has not ruled out an exit in order to find regular playing time.

Accompanying his uncle, Leivinha, a well-known former Atletico Madrid striker, to an interview with Radio Marca, Lucas revealed, “I have come close to joining Atletico before and I do not discard the possibility of playing for the rojiblancos. But for now, I am happy at Liverpool.”
