This would sure be a big boots to get to find good British youth players.

Ironically when in Spain there was the 3 foreigners limit, the national football was under minimums, and little talent emerged. Where as when we have a lot of foreign players (and most importantly) our players are going somewhere else, we have the best generation of footballers.
I don't think quotas will bring talent, but things well done at an early age. If the work done is not appropiate, it won't matter the quota.

Wow, Lakes, only 4? That's a brave shout. Just as a thought experiment, which four would you keep from the following list if your idea were to take effect tomorrow?
Torres*
Kuyt
Babel
Riera
Alonso
Mascherano
Aurelio
Insua
Agger
Skrtel
Hyypia
Arbeloa
Reina*

The reason why there is so much money going around and the premier league us the best and most watched in the world is because the best footballers in the world want to come and play ere for the big teams - it has made us into a force in europe . They start putting on caps then big players may well start to move to spain or italy instead and the league will become less attractive and a vicicous circle will start . and yes prices for english lads will shout though the roof where you will prob find players like carlton cole going for the same price as torres .a change prob does need to be done but they have to be careful .
GYBS wrote:You cant mate , Only having 4 non british will never work now and the clubs would never go for it - for one thing the chances of us ever winning a cl would go forever .

you are right but on the other side to that it will make English clubs work harder on the youth players.
Liverpool would always go to Southend to look at their young kids, this year they only asked to come and see players that had made it into the first team.

yes they could work harder on youth players but what if those youth players just arent good enough ? What if the talent in the UK just isnt good enough to succed . the level of the prem would drop right down .

yep that might be your view about what might happen to the prem, yet i know a few that will have the football on the tv when its not any of the top 4 clubs as they find the football boring, they say seeing two lower teams play is better as they have more guts and a feel for the game of football, in someways they are right, when i go to see Southend play sometimes what you dont see is a player going down every 2 sec as someone breathed on him, ok the skill might not be there but passion is there, sometimes that is missing.

yes an odd few people will think that but the rest of the world turn into the prem mate - and they do it to see the best players in the world play - if those players are playing elsewhere do you think the rest of the world would tune in ? not at all .
